Medicare Update for 2026: Important Change to Your Part B Deductible

If you’re on Traditional Medicare and have Medicare Part B — the part that covers doctor visits, outpatient care, labs, and preventive services — has a new deductible for the year - $283.00.

🔍 What does that mean?
Before Medicare starts paying its share for most Part B services, you’ll need to meet the annual deductible. Once you’ve met it, Medicare typically covers 80% of approved costs, and you pay the remaining 20% coinsurance.

💡 Why this matters:

Your deductible resets every January.

If you see specialists, need tests, or have ongoing care early in the year, you may feel the impact sooner.

This change affects everyone on Original Medicare (Part A & B), and may also affect some Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans.
