When Jeff Koehn was diagnosed with throat cancer, his doctors at Sanford Health recommended treatment to include surgery and a clinical trial for radiation, a treatment protocol developed by Sanford Health radiation oncologist Miran Blanchard, MD.

With EVOLVE's lower-dose radiation treatment, treatment time is cut down from six weeks to ten days. And by decreasing the intensity, it allows for fewer side effects.

Learn more about clinical trials:

Jeff Koehn's cancer care team recommended the EVOLVE clinical trial. It reduced his radiation time from six weeks to 10 days.

"When you're in a military family and you move as often as some people do, every year and a half to two years, that's not exactly something that looks really good on a resume," said Donna Steineke. "I learned really quickly not to mention that I was a military spouse because that was kind of more of a deterrent more than it was a plus."

But when applying at Sanford Health, being a military spouse brings benefits thanks to the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, a program that helped Donna Steineke find work as a patient access representative.

Are immunizations safe for your child?

We sat down with Dr. Christina daSilva, D.O to answer the questions everyone is asking; including why you should vaccinate your child against rare diseases.

"Those diseases are rare because of immunizations," Dr. daSilva said. "Immunizations have reduced infections such as polio, whooping cough, diphtheria, measles and rubella."
