Newborn care in the United States is growing fast but there’s no unified framework for training, safety, or accountability. Even the job titles vary. Our policy paper, The State of Newborn Care in the U.S., addresses this gap.

This research highlights the need for standardized training, credentialing and professional pathways to reduce preventable risk.

Families, night nurses, postpartum doulas and maternal-infant health providers will find insights to guide safer, more consistent care.

Great news! Today, Congress passed a large spending bill that will fund many maternal-child health programs, including the two programs that MMHLA leads advocacy for: The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline and The Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Program (MMH-SUD).

Last year, many of these programs were at risk of having their funding reduced or completely eliminated.

But thanks to pressure from advocates and supportive leadership in Congress, most of these programs remain intact and, in our case, the Hotline and the MMH-SUD programs received $2 MILLION MORE in funding than they did last year!

This shows that when we unite and use our collective voices, great things can happen.

Thank you to the advocates who advocated for these programs alongside us.

And special thanks to the Members of Congress who supported these programs that serve our nation’s mothers, children, and families:

Senate Appropriations Committee Chairwoman U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME)
Senate Appropriations Committee Vice Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-WA)
Chairwoman Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV)
Ranking Member Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)
Senator John Boozman (R-AR)
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA)
U.S. Senator Chris C***s (D-DE)

(More thank you's in the comments!)

Our Story

Since 2010, our Nurses and Newborn Caregivers that have been providing nurturing care to newborns and evidence based education to their families.

Our teams are located in Washington DC, Loudoun County, Maryland, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, South Florida and Northern NJ. We're franchising nationwide because our goal is to revolutionize the way American families bring home their babies. Early care and intervention means healthier families and saves lives.

We have been recognized for our Best Practices in Newborn and Postpartum Care by the White House Summit for Working Families, the US Chamber and interviews and contributions to national and local news. We’ve also so grateful for our family testimonials.

After seeing the tremendous impact overnight care has on families, we started our 501c3 Mission Sleep to provide free care to military and first responder families whose babies arrive when a parent is deployed, wounded or deceased.
