Your imagination is more powerful than most people realize.
Mental imagery activates the visual cortex, emotional brain, and nervous system in ways that closely mirror real experiences. When we imagine calming environments or supportive sensations, the body often responds by slowing heart rate, softening muscles, and regulating breathing.
This is why guided imagery is often used alongside somatic practices.
It helps the nervous system rehearse safety.
And over time, those rehearsals can strengthen our ability to regulate stress and process emotions.
The imaginary sense is not about escaping reality.
It’s about giving the body a pathway back to balance.
