Forest bathing increases activity in our parasympathetic nervous system. This results in a slower heart rate along with increased intestinal and gland activity. All of which creates the best conditions for our body to heal and replenish. Rest and digest.
In contrast, when in "fight or flight" mode, increased sympathetic activity reduces our body's healing activities. Stress is a modern day version of this and can contribute to reduced health as we often hear.
Take a few minutes and just sit with your eyes closed and feel gravity pulling your roots into the land beneath you.
For more, watch for Maui forest bathing opportunities coming in January and February.
