The wind gusts yesterday were brutal and the guests were thrilled when the doors for Malden Warming Center opened! City of Malden Health and Human Services Malden Cares team thought it would be good to choose a low key project for the evening, but how wrong we were! The guests were laughing throughout the night. We are so happy to provide art night 2 times per week at the Center, the guests always look forward to these nights.

Sober shaming is a real thing. Imagine hearing "oh have just one" "one isn't going to hurt you". Some folks simply do not understand there is no such thing as one with this disease.

Smile brightly and proudly let them know that your sobriety does not take a back seat to the holidays.

If you are one of the people that don't understand the fragility of sobriety, offer a water or coffee and move on. Please, please stop believing that all fun must accompany a holiday drink.

Cookies, cupcakes and cocoa were on the agenda last night at Malden Warming Center. City of Malden Health and Human Services Malden Cares team provided the materials but it was the guests who brought the imagination and laughter. So much fun was experienced decorating cookies and cupcakes, each guest brought their own style! It is incredibly heartwarming to watch the guests forget their worries for a brief time.
