Tyler Williamson, MD, is a sports medicine fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon. He grew up in Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota, where he graduated with High Distinction from his Biochemistry program. Dr. Williamson then attended New York University School of Medicine for his medical degree, after which he returned to the University of Minnesota for his orthopaedic surgery residency. He went on to complete his sports medicine fellowship in the highly active communities of Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Lakes, CA.
Dr. Williamson’s fellowship training provided experience with cutting-edge procedures, including ACL repair, the Bridge Enhanced ACL Restoration (BEAR) implant, direct anterior total hip arthroplasty, and shoulder arthroplasty using patient-specific computerized planning. Despite its sports medicine emphasis, his unique fellowship afforded continued training in knee and hip arthroplasty and fracture care. Before returning to Mammoth Lakes to join the Mammoth Orthopedic Institute, Dr. Williamson joined a private practice in Minnesota and was the first physician in the state of Minnesota to perform an ACL repair using the BEAR implant for non-research purposes.
