Eugene C. Tedeschi

Eugene Tedeschi, born in the Bronx, New York, ascended to heaven on April 22, 2026. He spent most of his life in New Jersey, where he built a life rooted in love, family, friendship, and an enduring passion for sports. His unexpected passing at home leaves a profound and immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Eugene was raised in Ramsey, New Jersey, where he developed a lifelong love of sports, often playing alongside his brother, Chris, and a close-knit circle of friends who remain bonded to this day. During these early years, he also discovered his deep affection for the Jersey Shore—a place that brought him peace and joy throughout his life. Later, he made his home in Manahawkin, where he formed lasting friendships through fishing, softball, and golf.

A proud graduate of Villanova University, Eugene earned a degree in Finance and a Master’s in Accounting. He carried his Villanova pride with him always, remaining a passionate and devoted supporter of Wildcats athletics for the rest of his life. Whether cheering from the stands or from home, his enthusiasm never wavered. He was equally devoted to his beloved New York Yankees, Giants, and Rangers—teams that brought him immense joy and created countless cherished memories, especially with his daughter, Sophia, his brother, his nephews, and his cousins.

Eugene married the love of his life, Julie, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering love. The birth of their daughter, Sophia—his “princess”—was one of the proudest moments of his life. He embraced fatherhood wholeheartedly, cherishing every moment and loving her beyond measure. His devotion to his family was the truest reflection of who he was.

Those who knew Eugene will remember his genuine kindness, quick wit, and generous spirit. He had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued, and his presence brought light and laughter wherever he went. He found joy in life’s simplest moments, especially those shared with the people he loved most.

Eugene’s deep Catholic faith was the foundation of his life. It guided his actions, shaped his character, and was a gift he passed on to his daughter. His family takes comfort in that faith now, trusting in God’s promise of eternal life and the hope of being reunited with him again.

He is predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Patricia Tedeschi.

Eugene is survived by his beloved wife, Julie, and his cherished daughter, Sophia; his brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Carol; his sisters and brother-in-law, Antoinette; Margaret and Jeff; and Nancy; and his loving nieces and nephews, Kristin, Emma, Hannah, Brennan, Cole, McKenna, Bella, Jake, and Ryan. Godfather to Kristin, McKenna and Hunter.

Jeffrey Edward Bauer

December 26, 1946 - April 5, 2026

Manahawkin, NJ

On Sunday, April 5, 2026, Jeffrey Edward Bauer passed away at his home in Beach Haven West, Manahawkin, NJ. He was 79.

Jeff was born the day after Christmas 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, the eldest son of Alfred Bauer and Gertrude Bauer. He grew up primarily in River Vale, NJ and graduated from Pascack Valley High School in Hillsdale. Jeff spent the first half of his life in northern NJ. In the late 1980s, he relocated to Manahawkin, NJ near Long Beach Island.

Jeff married and began a family early in life. He was a union electrician, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 164, where he made many lifelong friends. In addition, for years he mentored future generations of electricians by serving as a teacher for Bergen County Vocational Technical School. Many of his students eventually became his coworkers and friends.

Jeff was devoted to his family. After raising his own children, Jeff took a particular interest in the lives of his nieces, his grandchildren, and their children. He had a well-earned reputation for being there to help them through the transition to adulthood and was a reliable guide for those he loved.

Anyone who really knew Jeff knew the things he loved doing best: Fishing and singing karaoke. For years Jeff fished almost daily, working on the Carolynn Ann III out of Viking Village at Barnegat Light. In the winter, he fished in the Florida Keys with a very close-knit group of friends from Matecumbe Resort in Islamorada, FL. Jeff served on the Board of Directors of Matecumbe and was instrumental in overseeing major electrical repairs after the resort was damaged by a hurricane.

Jeff loved to sing. Whenever he was in the Keys, he spent most nights singing at various venues with his friends and continued to sing while back home in NJ. Jeff’s choice of songs was heavy on the hits from the 1950s and 1960s. Some of his favorite songs to sing were “You're Sixteen” (Johnny Burnette), “Jambalaya on the Bayou” (Hank Williams), “North to Alaska” (Johnny Horton), and “The Ballad of John and Yoko (The Beatles), which he sang as a duet with his friend Nancy.

Jeff is survived by his son, Jeff and daughter-in-law Renee; daughter Tiffany; ex-wife Michele; sister Donna; brother Rick; cousin Donald and his family; nieces Stephanie, Jenna, Lauren, Kristen, and Lindsey and their families; grandchildren Julia, Dominick, Cassidy, Jaymi, Eric, and their families; and his special friend, Marianne.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 1pm to 3 pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Rd, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Police Benevolent Association.

Stephen Henk Newenhouse

Stephen Henk Newenhouse, known lovingly to all as Steve, passed away on March 25, 2026, at the age of 66, at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey, after a courageous battle. Steve was an identical twin, born on December 2, 1959, in Coney Island, New York, and from his earliest days carried within him a spirit of compassion and service that would define his entire life. Steve’s parents, immigrated from The Netherlands, and the family lived in Coney Island, Brooklyn and Manahawkin.

Steve was, above all else, a man who showed up for others. He built a distinguished 34-year career as a paramedic ( # 679) and paramedic supervisor. Over the course of his career, Steve served with Community Medical Center, MONOC, AtlantiCare EMS, and Virtua EMS before retiring in 2017. Those who worked alongside him and those he cared for in their most vulnerable moments knew him as the kindest, most gentle man they had ever met.

His dedication to service extended well beyond his professional life. Prior to becoming a career paramedic, Steve volunteered for years as an EMT with Stafford Township Emergency Medical Services, and was also Captain of the Squad for a time. Steve also volunteered as an usher at St. Therese Catholic Church in Titusville, Florida, and was a devoted member of Bayside Chapel in Barnegat, New Jersey, where he also served on the Security Team. Whether in uniform or in his community, Steve treated every person he encountered with compassion, care, and genuine respect.

Steve married the love of his life, Marianne Christine Fiedler, and together they built a beautiful partnership filled with adventure and devotion. The two shared a deep love of travel, exploring new places together and creating memories that Marianne will treasure forever. Those closest to Steve describe him as humble, thoughtful, and selfless, a man whose quiet presence made everyone around him feel valued and seen.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Marianne; his brother, Jeffrey (Tracey) Newenhouse; his nieces, Tiffany, Melissa, and Amanda and his nephew, Kevin as well as four great-nephews. Each of them carries forward the example of kindness and integrity Steve set every single day.

Steve was a man of deep and abiding Christian faith. He believed wholeheartedly in Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord, and that faith was not something he simply professed but something he lived out in every act of service, every gentle word, and every moment of compassion he showed to others. His family takes great comfort in knowing that Steve now rests in the arms of the Lord he loved and served so faithfully.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. with a memorial service, 1:30p.m. Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home in Manahawkin, New Jersey. Pastor Joseph Faraldi of Bayside Chapel will officiate.

The family wishes to thank everyone who has sent words of encouragement and heartfelt condolences following Steve's passing, a life that ended too soon. They are humbled and grateful for all those who participated in the celebration of Stephen's life. His kindness touched more lives than he ever knew, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Stephen's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org or the Friends of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter at www.fosocas.org

Judith Sullivan

Judith Ann Sullivan (Ruckstuhl), 86, most recently of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after a prolonged illness.

Born in Newark, NJ, Judy was the daughter of Archibald and Mary (Donohue) Ruckstuhl. She and her family lived in Montclair, NJ, where she attended Lacordaire Academy. She attended nursing school at St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in New York City, NY, and later received her bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University. Judy first worked as a registered nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Her subsequent nursing roles included work as a visiting nurse, caring for individuals with addiction, and later returning to hospital nursing at Morristown Medical Center.

Judy married Francis Sullivan on October 18, 1969. After living as newlyweds in Greenwich Village, New York City, for the first year of their marriage, Judy and Frank moved to Basking Ridge, NJ, where they raised their family. Judy was the mother of 3 sons, Brian, Dennis, and Michael.

Faith, family, and music were at the center of Judy’s life. She was a “super-parent,” volunteering in the boys’ schools and in whatever activities the boys were involved in. These included classroom mother, team mother, Cub Scout den mother, and soccer coach. If Judy wasn’t helping out, then she was spectating. The boys have trouble remembering a single sporting event, school play, or music concert where Judy wasn’t there, and they always knew she was there because she was always cheering the loudest.

Judy loved the Lord, and she was the face of God’s love to many others. As a parishioner of Saint James Catholic Church in Basking Ridge, Judy was a religious education teacher and music leader for over 20 years. She was active in Cursillo. Judy was also active in Kairos prison ministry, sharing God’s love with inmates at several high-security prisons throughout New Jersey.

Music was always in Judy’s life. As a child, she learned how to play the ukulele, eventually becoming the leader of sing-alongs at 4th of July parties and campfires. It wasn’t unusual for Judy and Frank to sing duets with each other in perfect harmony. Judy loved opera, and she and Frank would frequently go to the Metropolitan Opera on date nights. Judy’s love of music was passed on to her boys, and all 3 were active in musical groups during their youth. Her children and grandchildren will especially miss Judy singing happy birthday phone calls that became a highlight of the day.

Judy had many other interests. She was an avid fisherman, never missing an opportunity to cast her line. She loved the New York Giants. As a season ticket holder for many years, she spent most autumn Sundays either sitting in Giants Stadium section 325 or in front of the television watching the game. The centerpiece of her Giants fandom was flying to Pasadena, California, and watching the Giants beat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI.

Judy spent the last 21 years living her dream of life by the water, residing in Manahawkin, NJ. There, she developed new friendships and interests. St. Francis Parish on Long Beach Island became her second home, and she quickly became involved in parish life. She was involved in prayer groups, a food pantry, a book club, and volunteered annually at St. Francis’ Festival of the Sea carnival. Judy and Frank loved their time together. They loved to travel up and down the coast, visiting lighthouses.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Archibald and Mary Ruckstuhl; a brother, John Ruckstuhl; and a sister, Mary Margaret Mintz.

Judy is survived by Francis Sullivan, her adoring husband of 56 years; her sons, Brian, Dennis, and Michael Sullivan; her daughter-in-law, Christie Sullivan; her grandchildren, Jack, Brendan, and Julia Sullivan. Nieces Mary Ellen Mintz, Kathleen Downey; and her nephews, John Mintz, Michael Mintz, and Thomas Mintz.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 9am to 11:30am at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ. 08050. A Mass of Christian burial will follow, 12:00 pm at St. Francis Of Assisi, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach, NJ 08008. Interment will be private.

Delores J. Elsenbeck

Delores J. Elsenbeck, age 90, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Born in Utica, NY, Delores and her husband Jim later moved to Audubon, PA, where they raised their family while she built a successful career as a real estate broker. In time, her love for the coast drew her to the Jersey Shore, where she first lived in Ship Bottom and then Surf City settling in Manahawkin, which she called home for the past seven years. Delores and Jim also treasured their winters in Ft. Myers, FL, embracing the sunshine, time on the golf course, and the vibrant community life they shared with many dear friends.

Delores had a warm, social spirit and truly loved being around people. She enjoyed staying active and involved, whether participating in the local women’s club, laughing with friends over board games, or gathering with neighbors and family. She was especially proud of leading and instructing the Healthy Bones program, an initiative that reflected her passion for helping others stay healthy and active.

She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether it was watching her roses bloom in the garden, setting sail on cruises with family, and cheering on her favorite teams, the New York Mets and the New York Yankees. Time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her the greatest happiness.

A devoted parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church for more than 30 years, Delores volunteered faithfully at the church food pantry and was an active member of the Surf City Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Her kindness, energy, and welcoming presence made a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Delores was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, James R. Elsenbeck, in 2020, her son, Michael Elsenbeck, in 2021, and her sister, Eileen Franklin, in 2003.

She is survived by her three loving children: Stephen and his wife Carol; Jim and his wife Michelle; and Lauren; as well as her daughter-in-law, Debbie. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Michael, Matthew, Stephen, Kaitlin, Kevin, Jimmy, Dave, Megan, Bryan, Karalea, Amylyn, Juliette, and Savannah, and a cherished great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she delighted in every moment spent with them.
