Judith Sullivan

Judith Ann Sullivan (Ruckstuhl), 86, most recently of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after a prolonged illness.

Born in Newark, NJ, Judy was the daughter of Archibald and Mary (Donohue) Ruckstuhl. She and her family lived in Montclair, NJ, where she attended Lacordaire Academy. She attended nursing school at St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in New York City, NY, and later received her bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University. Judy first worked as a registered nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Her subsequent nursing roles included work as a visiting nurse, caring for individuals with addiction, and later returning to hospital nursing at Morristown Medical Center.

Judy married Francis Sullivan on October 18, 1969. After living as newlyweds in Greenwich Village, New York City, for the first year of their marriage, Judy and Frank moved to Basking Ridge, NJ, where they raised their family. Judy was the mother of 3 sons, Brian, Dennis, and Michael.

Faith, family, and music were at the center of Judy’s life. She was a “super-parent,” volunteering in the boys’ schools and in whatever activities the boys were involved in. These included classroom mother, team mother, Cub Scout den mother, and soccer coach. If Judy wasn’t helping out, then she was spectating. The boys have trouble remembering a single sporting event, school play, or music concert where Judy wasn’t there, and they always knew she was there because she was always cheering the loudest.

Judy loved the Lord, and she was the face of God’s love to many others. As a parishioner of Saint James Catholic Church in Basking Ridge, Judy was a religious education teacher and music leader for over 20 years. She was active in Cursillo. Judy was also active in Kairos prison ministry, sharing God’s love with inmates at several high-security prisons throughout New Jersey.

Music was always in Judy’s life. As a child, she learned how to play the ukulele, eventually becoming the leader of sing-alongs at 4th of July parties and campfires. It wasn’t unusual for Judy and Frank to sing duets with each other in perfect harmony. Judy loved opera, and she and Frank would frequently go to the Metropolitan Opera on date nights. Judy’s love of music was passed on to her boys, and all 3 were active in musical groups during their youth. Her children and grandchildren will especially miss Judy singing happy birthday phone calls that became a highlight of the day.

Judy had many other interests. She was an avid fisherman, never missing an opportunity to cast her line. She loved the New York Giants. As a season ticket holder for many years, she spent most autumn Sundays either sitting in Giants Stadium section 325 or in front of the television watching the game. The centerpiece of her Giants fandom was flying to Pasadena, California, and watching the Giants beat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI.

Judy spent the last 21 years living her dream of life by the water, residing in Manahawkin, NJ. There, she developed new friendships and interests. St. Francis Parish on Long Beach Island became her second home, and she quickly became involved in parish life. She was involved in prayer groups, a food pantry, a book club, and volunteered annually at St. Francis’ Festival of the Sea carnival. Judy and Frank loved their time together. They loved to travel up and down the coast, visiting lighthouses.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Archibald and Mary Ruckstuhl; a brother, John Ruckstuhl; and a sister, Mary Margaret Mintz.

Judy is survived by Francis Sullivan, her adoring husband of 56 years; her sons, Brian, Dennis, and Michael Sullivan; her daughter-in-law, Christie Sullivan; her grandchildren, Jack, Brendan, and Julia Sullivan. Nieces Mary Ellen Mintz, Kathleen Downey; and her nephews, John Mintz, Michael Mintz, and Thomas Mintz.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 9am to 11:30am at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ. 08050. A Mass of Christian burial will follow, 12:00 pm at St. Francis Of Assisi, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach, NJ 08008. Interment will be private.

Delores J. Elsenbeck

Delores J. Elsenbeck, age 90, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Born in Utica, NY, Delores and her husband Jim later moved to Audubon, PA, where they raised their family while she built a successful career as a real estate broker. In time, her love for the coast drew her to the Jersey Shore, where she first lived in Ship Bottom and then Surf City settling in Manahawkin, which she called home for the past seven years. Delores and Jim also treasured their winters in Ft. Myers, FL, embracing the sunshine, time on the golf course, and the vibrant community life they shared with many dear friends.

Delores had a warm, social spirit and truly loved being around people. She enjoyed staying active and involved, whether participating in the local women’s club, laughing with friends over board games, or gathering with neighbors and family. She was especially proud of leading and instructing the Healthy Bones program, an initiative that reflected her passion for helping others stay healthy and active.

She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether it was watching her roses bloom in the garden, setting sail on cruises with family, and cheering on her favorite teams, the New York Mets and the New York Yankees. Time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her the greatest happiness.

A devoted parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church for more than 30 years, Delores volunteered faithfully at the church food pantry and was an active member of the Surf City Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Her kindness, energy, and welcoming presence made a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Delores was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, James R. Elsenbeck, in 2020, her son, Michael Elsenbeck, in 2021, and her sister, Eileen Franklin, in 2003.

She is survived by her three loving children: Stephen and his wife Carol; Jim and his wife Michelle; and Lauren; as well as her daughter-in-law, Debbie. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Michael, Matthew, Stephen, Kaitlin, Kevin, Jimmy, Dave, Megan, Bryan, Karalea, Amylyn, Juliette, and Savannah, and a cherished great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she delighted in every moment spent with them.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Anthony J. Cucinotta

Anthony J Cucinotta, 78 of Beach Haven, NJ born May 26, 1947 surrounded by more love than he knew what to do with, Sailed into the sunrise on his eternal fishing trip in the morning hours of Friday, February 6, 2026.

Leaving a lasting impression on many, while doing what he loved , whether he casually flipped you the bird or helped you catch your first fish he was responsible for an endless amount of amazing memories.

Whether you knew him as Hon, Anthony, Tony, Dad, or Poppy, he secured a place in our hearts finally settling as a Salty Old Sea Dog… which couldn’t be any more of a compliment for him considering how tough he was until the very end.

Being surrounded by the sand and sea is where Tony wanted to be, a huge part of that being from the friends and acquaintances he met along the way. He loved being a part of the NJ Beach Buggy Association, Happy Hookers Fishing Club, The Black Pearl & Miss Beach Haven along with careers at Bank of NJ, Jingles Bait & Tackle, and Marine Max.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife Joyce, and their children Lisa, Roseanne, Denise, Melissa, Tracey, Michael, David, Edward, Christopher and Dawn along with their 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and of course his brother Michael and sister Kathy, which is easy to say that his family was the only thing more important in his life than the sea.

As Anthony would not want anyone to grieve, instead please remember all the amazing memories you have of him and never forget them so as if he never left our side.

Please check back here at a later date for information on when/where the Celebration of Anthony’s life will be held. Stay salty, Dip your toes in the sand and until we meet again…keep your lines tight.

James A. Lang

Jim Lang, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home on January 27, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born on August 23, 1946, in the Cramer Hill section of Camden, New Jersey. He spent many summers in Cedar Run, NJ, where his family owned a summer home that later became his permanent residence. It was there that he and his wife, Karen, made their home and raised their family. Jim attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden and later took classes at Temple University. He was the founder and partner of Macro Sensors in Pennsauken, NJ, where he served as chief operator and manufacturing engineer until his retirement.

Jim’s greatest love in life was his family. He was deeply devoted to them and immensely proud of his children, Victoria and Connor, and all they accomplished. He loved living on the water and all that came with it—fishing and crabbing, building boats, and boating on Barnegat Bay—and always looked forward to the annual Lang Crab Fest. Incredibly handy, Jim could fix or build just about anything, including his childhood summer home, which he renovated extensively as their family grew. Rarely sitting still, he was often found tinkering around the house and yard or building model boats. He was also a devoted Philadelphia sports fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Ethel Lang, and his brother, Stephen G. Lang. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Karen (née Huster); his children, Victoria Blake (Dave) and Connor Lang; his sister-in-law, Patricia Lang; brothers-in-law LeRoy (Tracey), Joseph (Bonnie), Edward (Alisa), and Robert; his nieces and nephews—Nadina, Amber, Tara, Michael, Rachel, Ryan, Christopher, Matthew, Wade, and Eddie; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and special family friend, Marykate Campbell.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 11:30am until his memorial service, 1:30pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.

Lucille B. Traynor

Lucille Burns Traynor, of North Beach Haven, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, after a brief illness. She was diagnosed with brain cancer shortly after Thanksgiving and faced her illness with strength, dignity, and grace.

Born and raised in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, Lucille was the daughter of the late Michael F.X. Burns and Harriet Golas Burns. She also spent her entire life enjoying Long Beach Island, having grown up spending all of her summers there with her grandfather.

She attended Cathedral School and graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School in 1964. Many of her Hallahan classmates also spent their summers on Long Beach Island, and those friendships became a treasured part of her life for decades.

Lucille met the love of her life, Detective Gerard W. Traynor, when they were just eleven years old while spending summers on Long Beach Island. The two shared a lifelong bond and countless happy summers by the shore. They married and made their home in the Juniata Park section of Philadelphia, where they raised their family until Gerard’s passing in the line of duty in 1987.

After returning to school, Lucille earned her degree from La Salle University and began a distinguished career in education. She taught mathematics and computer science at Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote, Pennsylvania, where she also served as Head of the Math Department, as well as at La Salle University and Beaver College. Lucille loved her students and took great pride in their accomplishments, often keeping in touch with them long after graduation. She deeply valued the camaraderie and lifelong friendships she shared with her fellow teachers, who became like family to her.

Summers were always spent on Long Beach Island, where Lucille enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. For many years, she filled her summers working as a hostess at The Seashell Club. She loved being around young people, sharing stories, and enjoying the energy of the beach. One of her proudest personal accomplishments came in 2019 when she built her home in North Beach Haven — a reflection of her strength, independence, and lifelong love of the island.

Several years after the loss of her husband, Lucille found companionship and happiness once again with Peter Coyne, with whom she shared 30 years. Together, they enjoyed watching their families grow and welcoming numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren into their lives. Their time together was filled with friendship, laughter, and love. Peter passed away in September of 2025.

Lucille is survived by her beloved children, Gerard Traynor (Lisa) and Joann Pasterkiewicz (John); her cherished grandchildren, Katie Cleland, Emily Lewis (Hunter), Eric Strobel (Alexandra Steinberg), Sarah Traynor, Patrick Cleland, Cassandra Traynor, and Gerard III Traynor; and her adored great-grandchildren, Teagan and Oakley Lewis.

She is also survived by Peter’s children, Elizabeth Cicco (James), Margie Gallo (Damon), and Maura Robbins (Scott), and eight loving grandchildren.

Lucille will be remembered for her generosity, intelligence, and devotion to family and friends. She cherished her family as well as her many lifelong friendships and the time she spent with those she loved most. Her life was filled with memories of laughter, teaching, and fishing — but most of all, countless days spent on the beaches of Long Beach Island, sharing with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the same love of the island she carried throughout her entire life.

A memorial gathering will be held on February 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach, New Jersey 08008. Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m.
