Donald R. Black

We are heartbroken to announce Donald Robert Black, 72, passed away suddenly on November 19th 2025.

Don was raised in Belleville, New Jersey and graduated from Belleville High School where he played football. It was there that he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Peg. Together they built their dream house and dream life for over five decades.

Don built a career, first working for St. Johnsbury Trucking and then as a facilities technician for Verizon. He coached soccer and baseball in Nutley for a decade and nearly took his Little League team to Williamsport for the Little League World Series. His team marked the special moment with a baseball signed by all his players which sits on his desk today. He coached both his son and daughter as they grew up.

He spent much of his life “down the shore” in Beach Haven West. He loved fishing, boating, and water skiing. He was an avid runner and walker as he got older. He walked the causeway bridge every day, regardless of the season or the weather. He is widely known as the man locals have seen picking up trash on the bridge every day for the past 7 years. It was one of the small ways he made the community a better place to live.

Don battled heart disease most of his life, but you would never know it. He never complained. He never stopped walking or showing up for the people he loved. He was a selfless individual and put everyone before himself.

Don was also known as Dandy by many and was a quiet man, but when you got through his shell, he became the kindest, funniest man that walked this earth. He was the center of our universe and the glue to our family. Our hearts will never be the same again. Words cannot describe how deeply he will be missed.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin V Black and his mother, Diane DiNorcia Black.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Peg Buckland Black, his son Thomas Black, his daughter, Laura Regan, his grandchildren, Alaina, Morgan, Juliet, Brandon, Sarah, and Kasadee and his great granddaughter, Clara. He is also survived by his siblings Nancy, Billy, Sally, and Diane and their spouses.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Penn Medicine and the doctors who cared for Don with such skill and compassion- Dr. David Callans, Christine APN, Dr. Aditya Parikh, and Ana RN. Their dedication and support mean more to us than we could ever express. We would also like to thank the Stafford Township Police and EMS who responded with such care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please donate to a local food bank in his name or join him in picking up trash over or around the causeway bridge. Enjoy the scenery and think of him.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 1pm to 3pm with a Time of Remembrance, 3pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.

Joseph Walter Wilkie

Joseph Walter Wilkie, age 69, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025.

Born in Passaic and most recently of Manahawkin, NJ, Joseph dedicated his life to hard work, family, and the people he loved. He built a long and respected career as a pipefitter with Local Union 9, where he was admired for his commitment, skill, and unwavering work ethic.

Joseph had a remarkable presence—he could light up any room with his humor, contagious laugh, and genuine warmth. He had a true gift for making others feel welcome and valued. His joys in life were simple yet deeply meaningful: providing for his family, spending time by the ocean where he met the love of his life, and decorating for the holidays in a way that brought magic and joy to everyone around him.

Joseph is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Alice, and his siblings Jimmy, Walter, Andrew, Agnes, and Joann. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Barr and her family; his brother Vincent and his family; his beloved wife, Karen; his daughters, Heather Colianni and her husband Stephen, and Kaitlyn and her husband Killian Meara; and his cherished granddaughter, Fiadh; his son, Joseph Przybysz and his wife Christine. He leaves behind countless memories that will be held close by all who knew and loved him.

Angelo W. Lovallo Sr.

Angelo William Lovallo, Sr, born on August 29, 1940, went home to the Lord peacefully at home with his loving son, Angelo, by his side on June 13, 2025.

Angelo was a tool and Die Maker by trade, working for Patal Tool & Die and Heyco Tool & Die. His career began after graduating from Central High School, Newark, NJ. His Uncle, Joseph Lambroschino was instrumental in guiding him toward and through this journey. Angelo progressed through his tradecraft and became well respected for his abilities of precision, accuracy, and on time production. He was promoted to Project/Floor Supervisor. Angelo trained onboarding tool & diemakers. He received a Certificate in CNC Machining, which utilized computer programmed Die cutting, later in his career. Angelo also became a licensed Real Estate agent, part time, for Weichert Realtors in Westfield through the encouragement of his Army reserves buddy, Mel Lissner.

Angelo was born and raised in Newark NJ. During that time, he met and married his childhood sweetheart, Diane J. Weiler. They moved to Irvington, then to Cranford where they raised their family before retiring to Little Egg Harbor NJ, spending the winter months in Naples, Florida. After his wife, Diane passed, he moved to Manahawkin, NJ.

Angelo made many friendships throughout his life. Many of these were related to his hobbies of bowling and being an active member of his church. Later in life, he made friends playing golf, cards and through his wife Diane, who was a very sociable and active person. She always encouraged him to enjoy those friendships. He enjoyed lifelong friendships established through his time as an Army Reservist at Fort Dix, now known as Joint base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in NJ. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 14615, associated with St. John The Apostle Church located in Linden, NJ. At one time, Angelo was an elected Grand Knight of the Council. He very much enjoyed the camaraderie and the friendships he had with his fellow members.

Angelo was predeceased by his mother, Angela Lovallo; his father William Lovallo; his sister, Carmella Manrodt; his brother, William Lovallo and his sister, Joan Storch. His wife, Diane Lovallo, nee Weiler passed away before him, May 31, 2021. He always referred to her as “My Sweetheart” and mourned her each and every day since her passing.

Angelo is survived by his loving and devoted family, daughter Lisa and Antoine (Tony) Chaia and son Angelo W. and Rosemarie Lovallo, Jr., his brother Basil Lovallo, his sisters-in-law Joanne Weiler, Elizabeth and her husband Alan Cook, Judy Muldoon and her life partner Phil Munkacsy, his grandchildren Michael, his wife Katie and 1st great grandson Anthony, Angelo, Victoria (Tori) and Angelo Joseph (AJ), and cousin through Diane, Barbara Geiger and her husband John Geiger and family.

Angelo is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins within the Lovallo, Storch, Lambroschino, Weiler, and Herpich families.

Angelo was a loving husband, father and grandfather who spent time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many activities such as watching his granddaughter Tori perform on stage and his grandsons Michael, Angelo and AJ play baseball, football and in musical venues. Angelo especially enjoyed introducing the game of golf to Michael, Angelo, and AJ. They would play golf or practice driving together.

Angelo was a disciplined and hardworking person. Always anticipating what needed to be accomplished set goals for himself and his family. He instilled his work ethic and his motto of being self-reliant into the daily lives of his children and grandchildren. He never let a teaching moment go by whether it was learning how to sketch, changing the oil on the car, or the art of becoming “street smart”. He always encouraged them to do their best.

On November 15, 2025, a Funeral Mass for Angelo Lovallo will be conducted at 10:00AM at St. John’s the Apostle Church located at 1805 Penbrook Terrace, Linden NJ 07036.

Robert “Bob” Green 1941 – 2025

Robert A. Green, 84, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed on October 28, 2025.

Robert “Bob” Green was born in Riverside, New Jersey, in 1941 to Thomas and Kathryn Green, and grew up in Burlington Township. He attended St. Paul’s School and graduated from Burlington City High School in 1959. In 1963, Bob married his sweetheart, Dolores and together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family.

After serving two years in the U.S. Army, Bob worked for most of his career with Airco Industrial Gases and later at Jade Run Sod Farm. A dedicated worker and loyal teammate, he played for and managed the Airco softball team and also found joy in coaching his daughter Wendy’s sports teams.

An athlete in his youth, Bob played CYO basketball and ran track, but his love for activity extended far beyond sports. He found peace and happiness on the water—boating, fishing, and crabbing—and expressed his creativity through bird carving and tinkering in the garage. Bob was always ready to lend a hand, often fixing whatever was broken for friends and family.

Bob was a man of deep faith, devoted to the Rosary and to the Blessed Mother, Mary. His faith guided his life and gave him strength, compassion, and serenity that touched everyone who knew him.

Bob was a kind and gentle soul, known for his easy smile, generous heart, and ever-ready Irish jokes. He enjoyed a good game of pool or cards, countless rounds of Scrabble, and the quiet satisfaction of completing a puzzle. Above all, he cherished time spent with the people he loved.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his warmth, humor, and kindness will live on in the stories shared and the memories treasured by those he touched.

He is predeceased by his parents and brothers Tom and Jack and survived by his wife Dolores, his daughter Wendy and partner Tom, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bucky and Cookie, and sister-in-law Christine, godchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

To the Catholic families we serve,
The governor of our state passed a bill allowing human composting to be a legal means of disposition. We have had some families ask about this process and if it is approved by the Catholic Church. Please see the attached article written by Bishop O’Connell and published in this month’s The Monitor, the official publication of the archdiocese of trenton. This will certainly answer all of your questions regarding the process and the church’s official stance.
