I want to personally acknowledge Big Anthony. He was one of Synergy first clients. Since day one at SSS he was nothing but humble grateful and willing to do the work that was suggested. Unfortunately working in the treatment industry you come across a lot more sad stories then you do success stories that is why when You get to witness someone like Anthony start his life completely over and become such a reliable hard-working and trustworthy individual it truly is special. I love you Anthony and all of us here at SSS love you and you are a part of the Synergy Family for life. You are going to help so many people and we are going to do great things business wise... Anthony grew up in a small town in New Jersey. He was the youngest in a close-knit family and had a loving and adventurous upbringing. Growing up, he watched his dad work his days away and he not only learned from it, he emulated it at an early age. His dad paved his way, literally, by opening a successful paving company. The more successful his father became; the more responsibility was put on Anthony as well. While his dad would be away on business trips, Anthony would be responsible for running the family’s businesses. This forced Anthony to grow up quickly.
While most teenagers would spend their free time playing sports and hanging out with friends, Anthony was working. This left him with a lot of stress that most of his peers couldn’t relate to. Once he was done working for the day, he would use drugs and alcohol in the evening for a release. It started out innocently enough, as it usually does. For a long period of time, he was able to balance his work life and his social life. After high school ended, he took over his fathers paving company and with the increase in responsibility came an escalation in his drug and alcohol use.
Anthony spent most of his 20’s in active addiction. He decided to enter a rehabilitation program at the age of 30, when he found out he was expecting a child and was going to be a dad. He managed to stay sober for two years but when his marriage deteriorated, his sobriety did too. He picked up right where he left off. He entered into a toxic relationship during this time and he immersed himself in with a bad group of people and his days were spent scheming, stealing, writing false prescriptions, and making counterfeit money. He was doing anything and everything he needed to do to ensure he could get his next high. He was waking up defeated every single day. During the last few days of his using, he had reached such a low point that he had willingly checked himself into a mental institution. He was looking anywhere he could for help. After a quick evaluation, the mental institution sent him home and he was left sitting in his misery once again.
This time, the desperation was severe enough that he wasn’t ready to give up. He knew he needed to change. He made one phone call to his ex-wife and expressed his mental/physical state and his desperation to get better. She remembered seeing a Facebook post by Richie Lapinski so, she reached out. She connected Anthony to Richie almost instantly and the very next day, Anthony was on his way to Florida.
Anthony came to Florida broken, but with the determination to get better. He dove right into the program and said he felt like he was home the moment he arrived. He has not only achieved sobriety in Florida, he has found a new passion. During his time at Synergy, he realized he would like to work in the recovery field and has set a goal of becoming a life coach. Well after the completion of our program, he willingly shows up at the center, every single day and partakes in every group to get the most out of the program. He’s a shining example of what can happen as long as you have a positive attitude and put in the work. Anthony will forever be part of the Synergy Family -Lyndsay Lyndsay Lapinski
