Showing yourself compassion, setting boundaries, and tending to your mental health are all meaningful acts of love. Whether today feels joyful, heavy, or somewhere in between, your experience is valid.

EWC All-Star Spotlight: Sam Schussler 🌟

Sam has truly stepped into their role as a Culture Lead, and we are so grateful for the heart and intention they bring to our team.

From welcoming new therapists and helping them feel at home, to showing up consistently at team outings, Sam embodies what it means to create connection and belonging.

They have a special way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued, and that presence makes a real difference.

Sam is a true asset to our team and a huge part of what makes EWC’s culture so special.

We’re lucky to have you, Sam 💙

Valentine’s Day is coming up, and sometimes it can be lonely.

Exceptional Wellness Counseling wants to remind everyone in the community that love isn’t only something we receive from others, it’s also something we can offer ourselves.

Self-love can be as simple as honoring your feelings, setting a boundary, resting when you need to, or speaking to yourself with kindness instead of criticism.

Always remember you’re worthy of care. You're worthy of being loved. You're worthy of being supported.

If you’re curious about building a kinder relationship with yourself, support is here when you’re ready. 🧡🧡

Dr. Joy DeGruy is a psychologist, educator, and author best known for her groundbreaking work Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome. Her work explores how historical and generational trauma can continue to impact mental health, identity, and coping today.

By naming and contextualizing the emotional weight carried across generations, Dr. DeGruy helped open essential conversations about healing, resilience, and understanding trauma through a cultural lens.

Her contributions remind us that emotional education is deeply connected to history and that healing often begins with awareness, language, and compassion.

We honor her impact and the space she created for these conversations.

With Valentine’s Day approaching, expectations around connection can run high, and unresolved tensions often surface during this time. 💘

In this piece, EWC couples therapist Delia Drake explores why couples get stuck in conflict cycles and shares a simple guide to conflict cleanup focused on repair and protecting the connection- NOT forcing resolution. ❤️‍🩹

Some conflicts don’t end in clarity, they end in exhaustion. Here’s how to fix that: By: Delia Drake, LCSW Couples often come into counseling saying they’re “fighting all the time”...

Dr. Thema Bryant is a psychologist, professor, and former President of the American Psychological Association whose work centers healing justice, spirituality, and culturally responsive care.

She emphasizes that healing is not just individual- it’s relational, communal, and deeply connected to lived experience. Through her leadership, teaching, and advocacy, Dr. Bryant has helped broaden how the mental health field understands trauma, identity, and resilience.

Her voice continues to remind us that mental health care should honor the whole person: mind, body, culture, and community.

We celebrate her leadership and commitment to equity in mental health.

As Valentine’s Day approaches, we’re encouraging women navigating hormonal changes to show themselves love.

One of the most powerful ways to do that is through education, awareness, and support.

Hormonal shifts during perimenopause and menopause can have a significant impact on mental health, mood, sleep, and overall wellbeing. You are not “overreacting,” and you are not alone.

At Exceptional Wellness Counseling, we support women through these transitions with therapists who are educated in guiding clients through the emotional and psychological effects of hormonal change.

Asking for support is a true act of love. ❤️
