The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 provides that no vaccine manufacturer shall be liable in a civil action for compensation that arises from a vaccine-related injury or death. Before that was passed, there were 4 vaccines on the childhood schedule and now there are over a dozen.

As of June 1, 2025, the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, also known as "vaccine court," has paid approximately 5.4 billion dollars in total compensation since its inception in 1988. Petitions filed: Over 28,673. Compensable claims: 12,019. Dismissed claims: 13,007. Should they have been dismissed? How many were never reported?
