•Poor academic and/or athletic abilities.
•Autism & other developmental difficulties.
•Eye turns, lazy eye or amblyopia.
•Vision problems from trauma, neurological dysfunction or chronic disease
•Low Vision: Blurry Edges and Visual Holes

About Our Testing:
Drs. Tod Davis and Amy Carlyle examine key developmental vision areas that may interfere with learning and body coordination such as eye teaming and tracking, visual guidance of body movement, eye-hand
abilities, visualization, and visual memory. Optometric Vision Therapy:
Office and home procedures prescribed by Drs. Tod Davis and Amy Carlyle to develop vision processing and promote healthy vision. 12 months of treatment is common, but the length of time depends on the vision problems. Lens Therapy:
Specialized glasses prescribed to eliminate discomfort during reading, desk work and computer use. May contain bifocals, prisms,
or special tints. Low Vision Services:
Vision loss that cannot be corrected by ordinary glasses, contact lenses, medication or surgery is called low vision. If you have low vision, it is important to maximize the vision you have, and Dr. Amy Carlyle can help you do just that. Infant-See Program:
Even if no eye or vision problems are apparent, the American Optometric Association recommends scheduling your baby's first eye assessment at 6 months. First time exam for any child of 1 year or younger is FREE. Speakers Program:
Presentations on vision development for professional in-services and parent groups.

We love eggs! This protein rich food is great for eye health because it contains cysteine and sulfur that act as an antioxidant for the lens of the eye and could protect from cataract formation. So get crakin' to maintain good eye health! What's your favorite egg dish: Benedict, scrambled, over-easy, quiche, sunny side up, benny, huevos rancheros?

Happy !

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi), which has an approximate value of 3.14 – thus it being honored on 3/14.

Pi Day has been observed in many ways, including eating pies, due to the words “pi” and “pie” being homophones in English, and the coincidental circular shape of many pies.

So... there's your excuse to get yourself a slice of pie today. 🥧

We all spend a huge amount of time on digital screens; cell phone, laptop, etc. Some jobs have gone from being in office to working from home. If you spend a lot of time on computer, consider getting computer glasses to reduce eye strain. Those working with chemicals, mechanical irritants, and other hazards should protect their eyes with safety eyewear. If you work outdoors, don’t forget your sunglasses!

If your child avoids doing their homework, procrastinates, or becomes frustrated, there may be a vision problem at the root of all of this.

If this sounds like what you are going through, please know we hear this all of the time in our office.

In fact, many people don’t realize that eye doctors are the first stop for any vision related issues. However, only a developmental optometrist can provide a true solution for reading struggles, because it may not be something glasses can correct. It may require vision therapy to help solve your child’s problem.

Did you know that ADHD and ADD have many symptoms in common with several vision disorders?

If you have tried glasses and ADHD medication alike and seen no improvement in your child, vision therapy from Drs. Davis and Johnson may be the answer.

We recognize that while many of these symptoms appear to be related to ADD, poor behavior, or learning problems, in actuality a vision problem, such as convergence insufficiency or amblyopia, could be the culprit.

The answer to such vision disorders is vision therapy, and nobody in Virginia does it better than Drs. Davis and Johnson. With over 40 years of experience, Drs. Davis and Johnson provide hope for children and adults by providing the answers and solutions to all of the difficulties and symptoms related to a vision disorder.
