Our doctors were the first in the state to perform a mechanical heart/left

ventricular assist device implant and first in New England to implant the WATCHMAN™ for atrial fibrillation. CMC was also one of the first hospitals in New Hampshire to establish a joint venture with independent medical staff members when it became a partner in the freestanding Bedford Ambulatory Surgical Center and imaging center. CMC’s birthing unit, The Mom’s Place, was the first hospital in the country to have a neonatal unit based on "couplet care.” Our nationally-accredited Breast Care Center was the first in the state to use contrast enhanced mammography and SAVI SCOUT® localization for breast surgery. With primary care practices that care for the very young to the young at heart and our dedication to community outreach programs, CMC is helping to foster a healthier community, everyday.

Alyssa thrives in the fast-paced, ever-changing environment in the ER, where she makes a difference for patients every day.

“The environment is fast paced and constantly changing, and we’re able to help numerous patients throughout the day. I wouldn’t be able to do this without the amazing team we have.”

Recently, Alyssa transitioned into the Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) role, bringing strong ER experience and a deep commitment to both patient care and team support. She is proud to continue growing in her role while serving the community alongside her colleagues.

Two of our own are heading back to the starting line in Boston. 🏃‍♂️

Our CEO, 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐒𝐤𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐨𝐧, and ICU nurse, 𝐃𝐲𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐳, are both taking on the Boston Marathon again—showing the same grit, endurance and heart they bring to our organization every day.

We’ll be tracking their miles, cheering from afar and sending all the energy we can their way. And who knows—you might spot a few friendly faces along the route giving them an extra boost when it matters most!

In honor of National Volunteer Month, we’re proud to recognize Marissa Wu, a valued member of our CMC volunteer team 💙

Since joining in November 2024, Marissa has contributed over 50 hours of service through our Compassionate Care Cart — bringing comfort items, kind conversation and a warm presence to patients at the bedside. Her compassion and dedication truly make a difference throughout our hospital.

Volunteering at CMC felt like a natural choice for Marissa. Her father, General and Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Andrew Wu, has cared for patients at CMC’s Surgical Care Group and New England Weight Management Institute for 14 years. Together, they embody the spirit of compassionate care that defines Catholic Medical Center.
