The American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ocular Trauma found that most people believe that eye injuries occur on the job, at construction sites and factories. But, nearly half of all eye injuries occur in your home. Simple projects like yard work, cooking and cleaning cause more than 40% of eye injuries.
So, what do you need to protect your eyes from? Check out these common household items that maybe need to come with a warning label:
Bush/grass trimmings during yardwork,
Baseball while playing a friendly gaem in the backyard,
Nail polish remover during a manicure,
Bleach for cleaning,
Wood or metal working hobby in the garage, and even
Expired eye cosmetics.
Whether you are at work, home, or play, protecting your eyes from injury should always be a priority. Don’t become an eye injury statistic! Talk to your doctor about how to protect your vision.
