Poor baby had a hospital visit tonight😩.

I laid him down for bed (he had not taken a nap all day and was falling asleep in the living room floor).. went to my room to go to sleep as well. He was asleep MAYBE five minutes when the rude people downstairs decided to start their EXTREMELY LOUD vehicles waking him up and scaring him. (I’m watching him on camera during this) .. he gets up, goes to turn the light on.. (I’m getting up to go in there to let him know it’s okay) .. before I could even get in there to my baby, he flips out of the crib!!!😳😳. Grabbed him up, held him, called his papa to see if he could lower the bed for us.. while doing so- I COMPLETELY forgot that he was hooked up to his feeding pump eating.

When he flipped over the side of the crib, he ripped out his Mickey button. These things are NO joke!! If you HAVE to get back in right away. I get everything to put it back in.. then had to fight with him to put it in.. (it took me atleast 15 minutes of fighting with him).. and thennnnnn I saw blood coming out of his g tube. This has NEVER happened before when he has ripped his Mickey button out. I freak out & decide to just take him to the hospital to be safe.

Hospital ran bloodwork (everyone thinks he’s jaundice because his food makes him have a yellow/orange tint to his body) .. ordered for an x ray to be done to make sure I put it in correctly.. everything was normal so they let us come home.

On the way home, it’s now after 1am, sawyers vent started going off😩. After we got home and I laid him back down for bed, his vent kept going off so I decided to change his trach to be safe. Oh what a night it has been 😭. I’m exhausted, I’m scared to even go to sleep, and I’m just so upset with myself that my baby flipped out of his bed!!! I guess you can never be too safe.

Things have been CRAZY the past few months and I have totally forgot to update you all about our sweet boy!!

Sawyer has accomplished sooo much the past few months that have made me beyond proud!! To start it off, they have turned his vent settings down A LOT more so he’s not riding the vent during the night!! Which he has been doing so well at!! He also just recently turned two!! 🥹.

After sawyers birthday, he taught himself how to ride a little training bike!! He knows his colors and can match them perfectly!! He has extended his vocabulary!! & he has started eating more different varieties of food by mouth!!

Two weeks ago, we made a huge decision to get our own place, (we were living with in laws), we have always wanted our own place, but was scared due to sawyers extra needs.. but we did it!!! While we were moving, sawyer decided to drink out of my cup through my straw!!!!😭. If you know anything about sawyers past, you know that he forgot how to “suck” in the nicu due to being intubated so many times! We have tried for over a year to teach him how to suck out of a straw/sippy and it’s not been successful!! But by our surprise, he just grabbed my cup one day and started drinking through my straw!!!😭. We are beyond blessed to have such a healthy baby who has overcome so much since he was born!!!❤️. For anyone who is going through similar struggles, I see you. I hear you. & I’ll be praying for you! Don’t give up hope, miracles are possible!!!❤️.

Sawyer has been learning SO much from therapy!!! This sweet boy was beyond proud that he was able to thread a bead!!!🩵.

Since I haven’t updated everyone lately about sawyers progress I figured I would make a post🫶🏼.

•he is now off the vent during ALL awake hours and only has to go back on during naps and bedtime!!
•he is tolerating ATLEAST two hours a day on his PMV (it closes off his trach to where he has to breathe through his nose and mouth .. it also helps him talk)!!
•he is FINALLY gaining weight again!! He’s back up to atleast 25 pounds!! (He was losing like crazy and nobody would do anything about it so I started blending up multiple things with high calories). They also finally took him off infant formula and put him on pediatric blended foods!!
•he has started eating more by mouth but not enough to make himself full and gain weight..
