We are so grateful to Mascoma Bank for their generous grant of $2,000 to support the needs of our Crotched Mountain Community Care clients. These folks we serve - many of whom have disabilities and chronic illnesses - rely on the CFI program and our amazing case managers (who utilize grants like this!) to remain independent in their community and out of nursing homes.

Thank you, Mascoma Bank - you have made an immense impact on the lives of some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

We know it's still snowy and frigid out, but spring is within shouting distance! If you like to be outdoors and use your green thumb to cultivate floral delights, we are always looking for volunteers to help maintain and beautify our Memorial Garden at the entrance to the Accessible Trails in Greenfield.

In honor of pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training, here's a piece of baseball trivia: did you know that one of our closest friends and allies was Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Bill Monbouquette?

Bill pitched for the Red Sox, Tigers, Yankees, and Giants. He was a four-time All-Star and pitched a no-hitter in 1962 as a member of the Red Sox.

For many years, Bill and his wife Josephine supported Crotched Mountain Foundation as both volunteers and leadership donors. Bill passed away in 2015, but his legacy lives on!

Recently we celebrated the ribbon-cutting on an amazing three-year CMF Kids partnership project with SAU 23. This ambitious infrastructure initiative expanded and renovated the French Pond School in Woodsville, NH, an alternative middle school program for students with disabilities.

The expansion will increase classroom capacity, support the return of students from out-of-district placements, and strengthen academic, social, and emotional outcomes for learners with diverse needs. Now THAT is some incredible impact!

It was another epic night of friendship, family, food, and fabulous storytelling. The annual Rocky’s Rangers banquet packed the American Legion, Post 100 in Pelham.

A beloved tradition dating back decades, the banquet brings together a fun-loving community of hunters, who share their stories from the recent season. The "judge" then "fines" them during a playful kangaroo court session, with proceeds going to Crotched Mountain Foundation. Last night they raised the most ever: $3,310! Incredible!

Thanks to all of Rocky's Rangers for their generosity and good spirits. A special thanks to American Legion, Post 100 for donating the meeting hall.

We received an Autism Community Impact Grant for Autism from our amazing friends at the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism!

CMF Kids, a program of Crotched Mountain Foundation, is proud to announce it has been awarded a $7,500 Community Impact grant from the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism for 2025 to support its CMF Kids: Action for Autism initiative.

This funding will broaden inclusive programs and therapies that foster social skills, confidence, and meaningful peer and community connections—opening pathways for lifelong success for children with autism across New Hampshire.

The award will strengthen CMF Kids’ network of community-based partnerships and expand the Logan’s Giving Fund for Autism, increasing access to wraparound supports such as ABA and speech therapy, adaptive recreation, music and arts programs, and friendship-building opportunities.

Frigid temperatures can play havoc with power wheelchairs. For those who require power wheelchairs for daily mobility, the freezing cold can lead to reduced driving range, sluggish controls,
and unsafe breakdowns.

Batteries are the most impacted, as the cold can reduce power output, shorten driving range, drop voltage, and lead to failure. In some cases, a power wheelchair can see its charge halved!

In addition, motors, eltectronics, tires, and traction are all adversely affected, leading to a heightened challenge for power wheelchair users in the winter.

Some winter maintenance tips:

Store the wheelchair indoors in a temperature-controlled space Fully charge the battery before going out
Avoid storing the wheelchair in garages, sheds, or vehicles overnight
Recharge the battery immediately after use
Avoid letting the battery drop too low before charging
