November is American Diabetes Month!

Type 2 diabetes develops when the body becomes resistant to insulin or when the pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin. Exactly why this happens is unknown, but known contributing factors are genetics and environmental factors – such as being overweight and inactive.

We can’t change genetics, but we can sure change our diet and exercise! The best way to counteract diabetes is exercise (like walking) and limiting high calorie foods.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Especially when it comes to colorectal cancer, the third leading cause of cancer in the United States amongst adults. If you're 50+ years of age, schedule an appointment with Dixie or Ed to discuss whether a colonoscopy or non-invasive Cologard (https://www.cologuardtest.com) is the right diagnostic tool for you.
