Hello Altruity Family,
I am not one to post… or ask for help
Many of you know my momma…
What many may not know is she is the one that inspired my passion and dream of becoming a nurse……. At age 16, I was walking-off a show choir stage at Linn Mar HS… low and behold my mom was sitting on the bottom row of the side stage bleachers, holding another HS performer from another school. As I approached her baffled at why she would be holding a gal she didnt know…. Well, she was helping her through an asthma attack…holding her, coaching her on matching her (moms) breathing to slow her heart and breathing rate…. I was so inspired and proud that my mom knew what to do and that she was so willing to help a stranger….. i dont even remember if the girl left by ambulance or how it ended, having to keep moving with the our show choir group off stage. What I will never forget is seeing the girl calm and breathe easier with what my mom was doing with her… and will never forget the pride I felt when I saw her after….. her white shirt had black, purple, pink stamped on the front of it from when she was holding the girl in the gym…dramatic makeup, foundation and tears staining her shirt… but she didnt care, she proceeded on with the day with me while i continued to perform…. She didnt ask for comments or praise…and thats when I learned about Humility and selfless compassion….
Altruism was embedded in me that day, without even understanding at the time what I was seeing… or the new (at the time teenage) pride I had for my momma.
When I started PayItForward in Delaware County during Covid, mom was already having her own health problems from cardiac disease… when she realized what I was doing….her and dad began working behind the scenes, running errands and helping anyway they could…..even being at high risk for complications from Covid
And when Altruity Healthcare & Wellness Clinic, LLC began, my mom and dad where right behind me pushing me forward, storing and helping with building projects… when i needed help in the clinic… mom got her nursing license reinstated so she could come in and help with patient care!
Mom and Dad have been through so much over the past 2 years …. This benefit is our chance to pay it forward and help them during these trying times.
Please consider showing my mom and dad the same altruism that they have showed so many. Whether by considering monetary donation, attending the benefit, or door/prize gift donation, we appreciate all your love and support!!
From the bottom of my heart,
