If you see my kids running around Manchester without shoes this spring, just know there is a method to the madness. 👣
The feet are one of the most sensory-rich parts of a child's body. When we let them feel the different textures of grass, sand, and dirt, we are giving their brains a high-level workout. It builds better balance, stronger arches, and more confident movers.
But more than that, it is about regulation. There is something so grounding (literally!) about connecting with the earth. If we have had a day full of big emotions or transitions, heading outside to go barefoot in the grass is our favorite "reset" button.
