🌨️WINTER STORM UPDATE 🌨️
We want to ensure all residents are prepared for a significant Winter Storm impacting our state starting Sunday evening and continuing through Monday evening. Check on your elderly or disabled neighbors, it
only takes a few minutes.
According to the latest briefing from the CT Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, this “Northeaster" will bring severe winter conditions across the state. Winter Storm Watches have been issued for Northern CT, while Southern CT is under Winter Storm Warnings and Blizzard Warnings along the coast.
What to Expect:
❄️ Snowfall: 10”-16” expected in Northern CT, and 16”-22”!
The snow is expected to be wet and heavy. This will make it much harder to plow and increases the risk of minor to moderate power outages due to the combined weight of the snow and strong winds.
Travel Impacts:
Winter Weather Safety Tips:
• 🏠 Stay Home: Avoid all non-essential travel. If you do not need to be out, please stay home!
• 🔋 Prepare for Power Outages: Charge your cell phones, check your flashlight batteries, and have emergency supplies ready before Sunday afternoon.
• ⚠️ Roof Safety: With heavy snow expected, be mindful of snow loading on roofs. While the risk is low, snowfall totals exceeding 24" can put a strain on carports or dilapidated structures.
• 🚗 Emergency Travel Only: If you absolutely must travel for an emergency, clear your vehicle completely of snow and ice. Keep an emergency kit (blankets, water, snacks, flashlight) in your car. If you get stuck, ensure your exhaust pipe is clear of snow to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
We will be out there braving the elements, to get to our clients!
Please continue to monitor local weather stations for the most up-to-date tracking as this storm approaches.
In an emergency, always dial 911. Stay safe and stay warm!
