Jonathan has been with Root for the past four years, bringing with him more than 17 years of experience in the field. From the start, he has shown an incredible level of dedication, pride, and care in everything he does. Not just in maintaining our spaces, but in helping create environments where our staff and patients can truly feel supported.

April is S*xual Assault Awareness Month. S*xual violence impacts people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds—and here in Connecticut, support is always available.

At Root Center, we know that healing from trauma is deeply connected to mental health and substance use. Survivors often carry invisible wounds, and no one should have to navigate that alone.

In Connecticut, free and confidential help is available 24/7 through the S*xual Violence Crisis Hotline: (888) 999-5545. You can also connect with local crisis centers across the state through the Connecticut Alliance to End S*xual Violence, where trained advocates provide counseling, support groups, and guidance every step of the way.

Root Center, Chief Operations Officer, Ashley Hickey, joins Chief of Staff, Margaux Hyde, as they take the conversation forward—diving into mental health and substance use topics with honesty, openness, and curiosity.

Together, they’ll also bring in guest voices and experts to expand and deepen the discussion from a range of perspectives.

Grateful for a powerful day of learning about the real impacts of problem gambling. Huge thanks to Fairfield University and the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling for hosting such an informative and meaningful event. Hearing former NBA player Randy Livingston share his lived experience so openly made the conversation especially eye-opening and inspiring.

Pictured with Randy, our Director of Operations, Allison Pons, and Residential Service Coordinator, Jarrad Pete, attended on Root's behalf to learn more about how to better serve those who are struggling.
