Katie Burdick I help women create a lasting connection to their intuition so they can lead more soulful, fulfillin I have training in EFT, chakras, and mindfulness.

I’ve spent a decade in practice as a licensed psychotherapist and years training in a variety of alternative healing approaches. Through it all, I’ve learned that our inner voice is the most important tool we have. My own intuition has led me to pursue a variety of traditional and holistic healing modalities. I have a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, I’m a RYT-200 yoga teacher, Level II Reiki Practitioner, and am certified in Advanced Level and Animal IET healing. As an intuitive, I use this unique combination of knowledge and experience to connect women to their highest selves. I have an unwavering belief that anything is possible and we are all capable of achieving what we really want in life. Sometimes, we just need a guide, someone who can help us find ourselves again. I can help guide you to the inner wisdom that will truly change your life.

Love this! Stole from a friend, this is a challenge worth coming out of social media hibernation to do. There are so many shelters/rescues to choose from (sadly), but Rory Borealis recommends the CT Humane Society or the amazing Protectors of Animals in honor of his brother Oscar. ❤️🐾💙

This photo was taken two years ago in Newport, RI on my birthday. My husband and I were overlooking the ocean as I often insist we chase sunsets throughout the summer. He jokingly calls me “Paparazzi”, but it’s when moments like this are captured that we both feel the magic of that one special frame. Photography runs in my family, unfortunately I was not blessed with the artistic eye. My sister is the natural, taking after my grandfather in her insane ability to evoke and express emotion through the lens.

Art speaks to everyone differently. I was taken by this moment because of the grace in which the birds were soaring and gliding through the air. There is such freedom in a bird’s flight, the way in which they allow the wind to catch them as they dip and dive. When I was small, I wished for the superhero power of flight and the ability to spread my arms and leap with the unwavering faith that I would always be ok.

My last post on accepting reality seemed to strike people deeply, some with confusion, and some with concern that maybe I wasn’t doing ok (I’m ok, I promise!). But mostly, I felt the sigh of relief that came from being able to put down burdens. There was a releasing of pressure and grasping, of finding hope in pain. As with the client who sparked the conversation, after those dark moments there is always the experience of light. Sometimes we are torn wide open just so we can find the light underneath. And when we are put back together, what we now are can be far greater than what we were before. We can’t move into lightness without releasing the heavy, and life is finding the dance between balancing these two energies.

As you start off your week, I hope you find ways to soar. To spread your wings and feel the wind in your hair. But more, I hope you feel the support of the air and the earth and the love that can carry you forward. Trust that you will never fall, but that you truly are in a dance with the Universe in which you are dipping, diving, soaring and always supported – even if you can’t see it.

Sending love out to you all!

Tired of toxic positivity? No spiritual bypassing here - sometimes life is just going to suck. It amazes me when I see how surprised my clients are to hear me say that. First they are shocked, then amused, but then there is always a sense of relief.

The relief comes from a human to human acknowledgment of not only a shared journey/reality, but that we don’t have to hide our pain away. We tell ourselves we are being “silly”, that others are “too busy” to support us, or that we just need to get over it. Or worse, that we somehow deserve the pain we are in.

Ignoring your pain does not make it go away!

Ancient wisdom has always spoken to me as it holds simple truths that apply to our lives today. The Buddhists knew over 2000 years ago that life sucks sometimes. The Four Noble Truths state: suffering exists, it has a cause, it has an end, and there is a means to end the suffering. The good news is, the last Noble Truth then leads into the means and the “how to’s” of ending the suffering (the Eight Fold Path).

You may not ready for the “how to” conversation yet, and that’s ok.

There are times that we need to just sit with the pain. The distinction between pain and suffering comes from how we relate to the pain. If we can see the pain for what it is (a learning opportunity), we can more gracefully move through it with curiosity and compassion. If we get stuck in the pain, we suffer. And with everything, we must find a balance in exploring the pain and moving into healing.

So my friends, if today you are exploring pain, know that I am sending you so much love. This moment may suck, but there will be an end, and you will get through whatever it is you are going through. It’s ok to cry, it’s ok to take a break. Whenever you are ready, the tools and truths are there. 🙏🏻💖🙏🏻

I have a confession. I don’t always have my sh*t together. In fact, since the loss of my cat last summer, unhappiness and stagnation in my career, some long overdue deep deep Self work and the intensity of the pandemic, I haven’t been myself at all. When my friends comment I am always so calm and “put together”, I laugh it off and chalk it up to my Kaphic nature.

But guess what, it’s not funny.

If I’m honest, keeping things inside is a survival skill I needed growing up and has only been reinforced in my role as a psychotherapist where all day long my focus is on other people. While it feels good for a while, it leads to a swing in the opposite direction where I can only focus on my own needs. ZERO balance. Even more, it makes me emotionally unavailable in relationships. Without self regulation we can not be present or authentic.

I am blessed to be at a point in life where I am surrounded by amazing friends who see me for me and love me for me. They helped me realize it was safe to not be ok, and to share. To not always feel responsible for taking on other people’s burdens as my own, to know it’s just not my job anymore.

This isn’t a cry for help because believe me, I am more than ok. I feel better than I have in a while. This is a thank you to the beautiful souls in my life who didn’t let me forget about my own spark.

I hope you can see your spark too. We may not all have friends like that, but we do have lots and lots of tools. My chosen tool for today? Yoga.

On the mat is where we find ourselves again and again. We show up as we are with no expectations to be anything other than what we are right now in this moment - perfectly imperfect. My wish for you is to find that same space, however you need to.

Sending massive love to you all, hoping your weekend is bright and beautiful, just like you. 🙏🏻💖🙏🏻

It’s spring here in New England, which means the sun ☀️ is shining, birds 🐦 are singing, and we’re all getting a bit restless! It’s natural to feel antsy - we’re ready to shed the heaviness of winter 🥶 and embrace the lightness that comes with the seasonal changes! 🌷🌺🌸🌼🌷

It also means we are now inundated with the latest detox remedies and trends. Fun fact, your body naturally detoxes every day, all year long. So why do we hear so much about detoxing this time of year? 🤔

Sometimes our bodies need some extra support to transition between seasons or states of being. We were in a particular state of balance for the winter months, but that balance has been disrupted so we can regain a new balance in the spring. And for that, we need ENERGY! 💥Yes, it’s a great time to be gentle on our systems and look to fire up our digestion, but it’s not all about deprivation or cutting things out.

What can you ADD to help nourish your transition? Maybe you can add a nap 😴to support your rest and digest response. Maybe it’s adding a walk 🏃🏻‍♀️ to your afternoon to shake off the afternoon brain fog. Maybe you add another herb to your meal that stimulates digestion. Or just add more water 💦 to your day to flush all the junk out of your body!

Adding does not always equate to more heaviness. When we add to our lives with intention, we actually create more lightness and balance. ✨

Sending love to you all! 💖

Imagine what it would be like to slam on the brakes on the highway. Jarring, and potentially painful, right? 🛑‼️ So why do we try to do that with meditation??

I was working with a client today who is a pretty bad ass 💪🏻 business owner, out there doing her boss lady healing work. And, like we all do, she fell off her self-care practice leaving her ungrounded, anxious and overwhelmed. She ignored the cues her body was trying to send her (fatigue 😴, lack of motivation 🤷🏻‍♀️, irritability 😡) and instead kept trying (and failing) to power through work projects that only left her mentally beating herself up 🤕 and reaching for the chocolate bar 🍫.

When we revisited her morning rituals to see if we could shift her energy, she admitted they felt too hard to connect with. Sitting in silence actually made her feel LESS calm – she would give up feeling more antsy 🐜🐜🐜 and frustrated than before she sat down.

But what I pointed out was that instead of trying to meditate for an hour, or find time for a week-long vacation, or any of the other drastic steps we tell ourselves we would need to get nourishment, we need to look at the present moment and find the ONE THING or ONE MINUTE we can stop and disconnect. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Of course sitting still for an hour will feel like torture! You can’t go from 85 mph to a standstill. We have to slowly work our way out of our chaos and into peace. If you can’t sit for an hour, you didn’t fail. You absolutely are capable of meditating.

Maybe today your meditation is taking 5 deep breaths before you get out of bed. Maybe it’s drinking your morning tea ☕️ in front of a window 🌅 instead of a screen. Maybe it’s the silence you listen to in the shower. 🧖🏻‍♀️

Wherever you start, know that it is perfect for you exactly where you are right now, all you have to do is try. 💖

Want to know what I mean when I say “Yoga isn’t meant to be just a workout”?

This. Right here. Allllll of this. This is how you take steps to living a ‘yogic’ lifestyle - understanding that colonization and appropriation have distorted an entire beautiful culture and heart centered spiritual way of *being* and watered it down to what you do in the gym. Want to call yourself a yogi? Be curious, be still, be discerning, and learn the Truth from authentic gurus. 🙏🏻

Dear white yoga teachers
Asana centred yoga practice - or ?
Yoga has become an Olympic style sport - the images that assail us daily are of mostly strong, supple, super flexible, hyper-mobile, slim, white/white passing yogalebreties. This is seen as yoga. This is the yoga body. This is the yoga teacher. This is the yoga student. This is the yogi.
For those of us who are not represented and not included in this image of yoga, this is hard.
This is dispiriting, discouraging and reinforces low self esteem, poor body image and difficulty in self acceptance. Those of us who look different, feel different, move differently, feel less than, less capable, less able, less seen, less liked, less deserving.
Is modern yoga failing us?

Our Story

in·tu·i·tion: /int(y)o͞oˈiSH(ə)n/ noun; the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning

yo·ga: /yōgə/ noun; union, the joining of the individual Self with the divine consciousness

Intuition and Yogic Lifestyle Coaching is a program designed to help you reconnect with your intuition — your deepest, purest light — in a consistent and sustainable way.

We are all intuitive. Whether we call it instinct, our Higher Self or just plain common sense, we all have an internal guide that leads us in life. Our intuition lives in our heart, the energetic space that holds our capacity to love. Our heart chakra is an energetic powerhouse that connects our earthly and spiritual understanding of ourselves, others and the world in which we live.
