📉 Encouraging News for Maine: Overdose Deaths Down for the Third Year in a Row

Maine has seen overdose deaths drop for the third year in a row. A hopeful sign for communities across the state. Preliminary data shows 390 overdose deaths last year, a 20% decrease from the year before and the lowest since 2019.

State leaders credit several key factors for this continued progress, including Maine's wide distribution of naloxone, the work of OPTIONS liaisons in communities, and a declining prevalence of fentanyl in the national drug supply.

There's still work ahead, but this trend is encouraging for families, clinicians, first responders, and all those affected across the state.

💙 Together, we can save lives.
