All horses can benefit from Craniosacral therapy, as all will experience regular pressures and stresses throughout their lives. These can be from "every day" items such as tight fitting nose bands, tie downs, pressure from bits, incorrectly fitting tack, pull backs, falling down, hitting head, slipping in mud, actually just being ridden.
If there is any single one reason to utilize craniosacral therapy it would be after dental work.
The speculum, together with hand tools,(my preference) are required for dental procedures to be carried out as efficiently and safely as possible. However the horses's reaction to having the mouth held open in such an unnatural position(especially under sedation) and the actual work itself can lead to unhealthy pressures being put onto the bones of the skull and muscles of the TMJ with inevitable consequences- such as compensatory patterns in chewing, teeth not lining up with jaw not centered, which can lead to other issues in the body.

Spring is here. Soooo thankful for the rain.

Has your horse ever pulled back while tied? When they do it may be a hard struggle.That pull back affects the poll area, the occiput which attacks to the skull, and atlas which is cervical vertebra 1 and the axis which is cervical vertebra 2. Then on down the back to the lumbar sacral area.

Ever have a sore neck which affects how you turn or nod your head? May feel it down your back, Or in one hip or leg.

Your horse may also feel that pain and stiffness. But he still has to carry you, rope, sort cows , barrel race and trails.

That pullback has done more to your horse's body than you realize .

Give your horse a craniosacral session to assist him in feeling better.
