Most people don’t walk in and say, “Hi, I’m depressed.”
They say they’re overwhelmed. Burnt out. Snapping at everyone. Not sleeping. Not enjoying anything.

That’s where my job starts.
When someone comes in feeling this way, I don’t jump straight to assumptions or a generic plan. I take time to sort out what’s coming from life stressors and what may be clinical depression that needs real depression treatment.

That starts with a thorough assessment, then a plan that actually fits you. Sometimes that includes medication management. Sometimes it includes other interventions. Often it’s a mix.

If you’ve been wondering whether what you’re feeling is “just life” or something more, it’s worth getting a real answer.

I see this more often than people realize.

You’re showing up to work.
You’re taking care of your family.
You’re answering texts.
You’re getting through the day.

From the outside, everything looks “fine.”

But inside, you feel exhausted. Heavy. Disconnected.
Even small tasks take more energy than they should.

High-functioning depression doesn’t always look dramatic. It doesn’t always involve staying in bed or missing responsibilities. Sometimes it looks like pushing through every single day while feeling emotionally depleted.

And because you’re still functioning, you may tell yourself it’s not “bad enough” to ask for help.

But if you’re constantly tired in a way that sleep doesn’t fix…
If joy feels muted…
If you feel like you’re just surviving instead of living…

THAT MATTERS.

Depression exists on a spectrum, and you don’t have to wait until you hit a breaking point to seek support.
If this feels familiar, let’s talk. 💙

What worked for them might not work for you.

A lot of people are surprised to learn that you can be taking medication for depression and still feel depressed. Depression treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all, and your brain and body can respond differently than someone else’s, even on the same medication.

That’s why we focus on individualized care. We take the time to understand what you’re experiencing and create a treatment plan that’s tailored to you, not just a standard approach.

If you’ve been feeling stuck or like nothing has worked the way you hoped, it may just mean you haven’t found the right fit yet.

I can’t tell you how many women sit in my office and say this exact sentence.

They have the list.
They have the planner.
They have the pen in their hand.

And somehow… they feel completely stuck.

Not because they’re lazy.
Not because they don’t care.
And definitely not because they’re incapable.

Adult ADHD, especially in women, often looks like overwhelm, mental clutter, time blindness, and constant self-criticism. It can look like starting five things and finishing none. It can feel like your brain won’t organize itself no matter how hard you try.

And for many high-achieving women, it gets missed for years.

You may have been labeled anxious.
Or “just stressed.”
Or told you need better time management.

But sometimes it’s not a discipline issue. It’s a neurobiology issue.

If you’ve always felt like you’re working twice as hard just to stay afloat, I want you to know there may be an explanation. And there are treatment options that truly help.

You are not broken.
Your brain may just work differently.

And that’s something we can evaluate together. 💕

We talk a lot about “life-changing habits,” but most of the ones that truly change you aren’t flashy.

They’re quiet.
They’re uncomfortable.
They require intention.

You don’t have to overhaul your entire life to grow. Real change usually starts with one honest decision.
Rather than trying to implement all of these at once, choose one that feels most important right now.

Which habit are you choosing to start with?

Have you ever noticed how your thoughts feel louder when they stay in your head?

Sometimes just writing things down helps. Not because it magically fixes everything… but because it slows your mind enough to make sense of what you’re feeling.

Journaling doesn’t have to be deep or poetic. It can be messy. It can be three sentences. It can be “I don’t even know why I feel like this.”

But getting it out of your head and onto paper can make emotions feel a little less overwhelming.

If your mind has been busy lately, maybe start there. Just you, a page, and a few honest thoughts.

Anxiety doesn’t always look like panic attacks.
It can show up as constant worry, irritability, sleep problems, or that feeling of “what if” looping in your mind. For millions of adults, it’s not occasional stress — it’s a persistent experience that impacts daily life.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, worn down, or just “not quite yourself,” you’re not alone — and you’re not failing. Anxiety is real, and real help exists.

We offer compassionate care to help you understand what’s going on beneath the surface and find a path forward that actually works.

Menopause + ADHD: a connection that doesn’t get talked about enough. 🤷‍♀️

Many women begin noticing new or worsening ADHD-like symptoms during perimenopause and menopause—brain fog, difficulty focusing, forgetfulness, mental fatigue, or feeling overwhelmed. This isn’t a coincidence.

Studies suggest that estrogen plays a critical role in cognitive function, and as estrogen levels decline, attention, memory, and executive functioning can be affected. For some women, this means ADHD symptoms may appear for the first time during menopause even if they were never an issue earlier in life.

What makes this especially frustrating?
Many healthcare providers are hesitant to evaluate or prescribe ADHD medications for patients over 50.

At Serene Health & Wellness, we regularly see and support patients over 50 who are experiencing ADHD symptoms that emerged or intensified during menopause. We take the time to listen, evaluate thoughtfully, and explore appropriate treatment options, including medication when clinically appropriate.

If you’re thinking, “This isn’t how my brain used to work,” you’re not imagining it and you’re not alone.

You deserve care at any stage of life! Reach out to see if an evaluation may be right for you.

If you feel like your thoughts are constantly revolving around food, you’re not alone.

The food noise is real. 😩
That nonstop mental chatter about eating, craving, snacking, planning the next meal, and trying to “be good” can feel overwhelming and exhausting.

For many, this isn’t a willpower issue. It’s a biological one. 🧠
Hormonal imbalances, insulin resistance, and disrupted hunger/fullness cues can make your brain send mixed signals all day long.

That’s where GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide come in.
They work with your body’s natural systems to regulate appetite, reduce cravings, and improve insulin sensitivity helping you feel more in control around food and less mentally consumed by it.

At Serene Health & Wellness, we take a personalized approach to medical weight loss that goes far beyond the scale.
We look at your labs, lifestyle, hormones, and relationship with food to create a treatment plan that meets you where you are.

If you’re tired of the constant food noise, we’d love to help quiet it.
