🐾 Meet Paddy! 🐾

This handsome Golden Retriever stopped by Mandeville Animal Hospital for a visit, and he definitely brightened our day with his sweet personality and wagging tail. Goldens are known for being gentle, loyal, and great family companions—and Paddy is a perfect example.

✨ Golden Retriever Trivia:
Golden Retrievers were originally bred to retrieve game for hunters, which is why they love carrying toys, balls, and pretty much anything they can proudly show off. They are also one of the most intelligent and friendly dog breeds, making them excellent therapy and service dogs.

Thanks for visiting us, Paddy. We cannot wait to see you again! 💛🐶

Rusty is recovering from his neuter procedure 🐶

Spaying and neutering supports your pet’s long-term health and overall wellbeing.

Benefits include:
• Helps prevent certain cancers and reproductive infections
• Reduces roaming, marking, and aggressive behaviors
• Lowers the risk of hormone-related health issues
• Helps reduce pet overpopulation

Even though a neuter may be considered a routine procedure, it is treated with the same care and attention as any surgical procedure requiring anesthesia. Patients are closely monitored before, during, and after surgery to ensure safety and comfort throughout recovery.

📞 Call or message Mandeville Animal Hospital to schedule a spay or neuter consultation or to learn more.

EXTREME COLD WEATHER ADVISORY 🥶🐾

We are in the cutoff area for severe weather, which means while some areas may see heavier storms, we will still experience dangerous, prolonged cold. Even brief exposure to low temperatures can be dangerous for pets.

Please bring all pets indoors during this weather. Dogs and cats can suffer from hypothermia and frostbite faster than many people realize—even those used to being outside.

If you see an animal left unsheltered, chained, or exposed to the cold, please do not ignore it. You can report it by calling:
📞(985) 809-0183 - St. Tammany Animal Services

A quick call can make a life-saving difference.

Let us look out for our own pets and for those who cannot protect themselves. 💙

Fun Fact Friday with Boots! 🐾

Boots may be just chilling in this photo, but did you know even relaxed cats are communicating with us? Cats have tiny scent glands in their paws and cheeks, and every rub, nuzzle, or stretch is their way of marking safe spaces and showing comfort.

Taking the time to notice these behaviors helps us understand what makes them happy and healthy.

Did you know? 🐾

Veterinary laser therapy helps reduce pain and inflammation by stimulating cells at the tissue level. This non-invasive treatment can improve circulation, speed up healing, and support recovery for conditions such as arthritis, injuries, wounds, and post-surgical care.

Laser therapy is pain-free, requires no sedation, and many pets find it relaxing during treatment.

📞 Want to know if laser therapy is right for your pet? Call Mandeville Animal Hospital to learn more or schedule a consultation.

🐾 Wellness Blood Testing: A Window Into Your Pet’s Health 🐾

Wellness blood testing helps us understand what is happening inside your pet’s body, even when they appear healthy. It can detect early signs of illness, monitor organ function, and establish a healthy baseline for future comparison.

This testing is especially important for senior pets, pets on long-term medications, or before procedures that require anesthesia. Early detection allows for timely care and better outcomes, giving your pet the best chance at a long, healthy life.

📅 A simple blood test today can prevent bigger problems tomorrow.

📞 Call Mandeville Animal Hospital to book your pet’s wellness blood test or ask our team if it is time for your pet to be screened.

Why annual checkups matter, even if your pet looks “okay.”

Pets are experts at hiding discomfort. By the time signs of illness show, a condition may already be advanced. That is why annual wellness exams are one of the most important steps in protecting your pet’s long-term health.

During a routine checkup, our veterinary team can:
• Detect early signs of illness that are not visible at home
• Monitor weight, dental health, skin, joints, heart, and lungs
• Keep vaccinations and parasite prevention up to date
• Run baseline bloodwork to spot internal changes early
• Address small concerns before they turn into costly or serious problems

Preventive care is about staying ahead, not waiting for something to go wrong. Regular checkups help pets live longer, healthier, and more comfortable lives.

At Mandeville Animal Hospital, we believe prevention is the best medicine.

Skye, a sweet cavapoo, after her first groom, enjoying all the snuggles 💕

Skye came in for her first puppy check-up and finished the visit with her very first groom.

Grooming is more than just keeping your pet looking adorable. Regular grooming helps maintain a healthy coat, prevents painful matting, reduces shedding, and keeps skin clean and comfortable. It also gives our veterinarians a chance to spot early signs of skin issues, parasites, or lumps before they become serious.

Just like Skye, pets feel happier and more confident after a proper groom. A well-groomed pet is a healthy pet! 🐾✨

Schedule your pet’s grooming appointment today and let us help them look and feel their very best.

📚🐾 Did You Know? Not All Vaccination Plans Are the Same 🐾📚

Meet Koda 🐶✨

Koda visited Mandevilla Animal Hospital for his vaccines, but because he has shown sensitivity to vaccinations in the past, we created a custom vaccination plan designed specifically for him.

Some pets may need:
• Adjusted vaccine schedules
• Careful spacing between vaccines
• Close monitoring before and after vaccination

By tailoring Koda’s plan, we were able to keep him safe, comfortable, and protected—and he did wonderfully! 💙

📸 Swipe to see Koda before & after his vaccine visit.

👉 If your pet has had reactions, sensitivities, or is due for vaccines, talk to us today. Our team will create a personalized plan that puts your pet’s health first.
