To drive home the power of prevention during the “General Cardiology for the General Practitioner” seminar, I offered a complete cardiovascular consultation that included individual ASCVD risk calculation with lipid testing, vitals, body composition analysis, detailed heart-healthy diet recommendations, and performed moderate intensity exercise as a group in an effort to both improve provider health, increase awareness on physician-patient counseling, and ultimately improve patient health. There were 18 nominated physicians from all over the West Bank employed by the United Nations to the Palestinian Authority that attended my “General Cardiology for the General Practitioner” two-day seminar. Rather than me providing direct care to 100 Palestinians during my visit, this gives me the opportunity to touch thousands of Palestinian lives for years to come through these 18 primary care providers as I aggressively target healthcare capacity in Palestine.

SAMS held a makeshift clinic at a preschool in a remote southern Jordanian town with limited access to specialists. A dermatologist and I saw over 140 patients combined which would not have been possible without the incredible support staff and translators we had.
