Monk Burin delivered a Wisdom Talk on Four Foundations of Mindfulness in Turbulent Times at Columbia University.

On Thursday, March 5, 2026 between 7.30-8.30 PM, Columbia University Buddhist Association (CUBA) gathered around 25 CUBA members at Choir Room in St. Paul’s Chapel, Columbia University for meditation practice and wisdom talk.

The session started with Nadia, the president of CUBA introducing Monk Burin, Executive Director of The Middle Way Institute to CUBA members. Then Monk Burin led the meditation session for 20 minutes and gave a wisdom talk on, "Four Foundations of Mindfulness in Turbulent Times.”

He explained the concept of Kaya (Body), Vedana (Feeling), Citta (Mind) and Dhamma (Truth) as fundamental reflections to bring stillness to one’s mind. He quoted the maxim of Luang Pu Wat Paknam, founding teacher of The Middle Way Meditation, “Stillness of the mind is the key to success.” Then he summarized the key point that once the mind is still and clear from deeper silence, wisdom from silent mind will rise up to show the way to overcome challenges.

Many participants were really peaceful in meditation practice and very impressed with a wisdom talk. After the main session, many students stayed on to ask questions to monks and temple staff with great enthusiasm on Four Foundations of Mindfulness and its application to better life and better world.
