Monk Burin teaches Mindfulness and Meditation at New York Institute of Technology
On April 16, from 12:30 PM to 1:50 PM, Venerable Burin Thitakusalo, aka Monk Burin, executive director of The Middle Way Institute, was invited by Sebastien, a Librarian at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), along with 3 student clubs - behavioral science club, nutrition and wellness club and student veteran organization, to deliver a wisdom talk and guide meditation at Room 822 of the NYIT building.
The session began with a student representative introducing Monk Burin to the participants. Monk Burin then gave a talk on the topic, “Mindfulness and Meditation for Student Wellness.” It was followed by an engaging Q&A session, during which many students asked thoughtful questions.
Afterward, Monk Burin guided all participants through a 20-minute meditation session. Following the meditation, he invited students s to share their meditation experiences. Most reported feeling calm, relaxed, and noted how quickly time seemed to pass during the practice.
All participants expressed joy and gratitude for the opportunity to receive valuable teachings and practical meditation guidance from a Buddhist monk to help them navigate the challenges of student life. Monk Burin also generously offered 5 copies of his book, “The Middle Way Wisdom”, 3 copies to fortunate students and 2 copies to the NYIT library.
