Dear mom to be,

If you’ve been told to consider donor egg, it’s okay if your first feeling wasn’t certainty. Just know that love isn’t defined by biology, and that the child you’re working so hard for will be yours in every way that matters. What carried me through wasn’t just the process, but the people around me. My family. My medical team. And a support system that took the time to explain, never rushed me, and made sure I didn’t feel alone at any step. If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be this: trust that things can work out, even if the path looks different than you imagined. And don’t give up. I didn’t. I became a mom at 53.

A day in the life of the Futura team looks a little different for each of us.

Carson: As the social media gal for Futura my days are coffee fueled (I have like 6 cups a day lol), and spent bouncing from IG to Tiktok, airdropping content from laptop to my phone, filming clips, and editing content. I wouldn't have it any other way!

Linda: My days are usually back to back calls with intended parents, hopping from Zoom to Zoom, checking messages in between, recharging my AirPods, and making sure no one feels alone or confused while making really big decisions.

Angela: Most of my day lives in calendars, spreadsheets, and confirmations — booking travel, coordinating schedules, double checking timelines, and making sure every logistical piece is handled before anyone even has to ask!

Cintia: A lot of my day is spent on the phone with donors, walking through medications, side effects, and medical questions, answering follow ups, and making sure they feel confident about what their bodies are doing!

Abigail: I bounce between inboxes and check ins, answering donor
questions, following up on details, and jumping in wherever help is needed to keep things moving and people feeling supported.

Being a student doesn’t mean donation has to feel impossible or overwhelming! This is something we talk through with donors who are students early on. The schedule has some structure, especially when it comes to monitoring days, but there’s also flexibility built into the process.

And when school conflicts come up, our physician partners can provide medical excuse notes so you’re not put in an uncomfortable position. You never have to share more than you want to. Professors don’t need details, just the knowledge that there’s a short term medical reason for a few weeks of absences.

One thing that came up in this conversation, and something we always emphasize to donors, is that no two cycles are the same. Your body can respond differently each time. The medications can feel different. The process can land differently. Even when everything on paper looks similar. There isn’t a universal experience, and there shouldn’t be pressure to compare yourself to anyone else’s story. Every cycle is its own journey!

Dear mom to be,

When I was first told I should consider using a donor egg, I felt uneasy. I knew I would be carrying my baby, but the idea that she wouldn’t be genetically related to me felt foreign and heavy at first. It took time, and it took research, and it took allowing myself to sit with feelings I didn’t expect to have.

What helped me move forward was understanding that donors are thoughtfully chosen, not randomly selected. We looked for traits that mattered to us, things that felt familiar, things that felt grounding. Having someone guide us through that process made a difference. Knowing there was care, intention, and real thought behind every step helped quiet the noise.

And then my baby arrived.

She’s four months old now, and she is the light of our lives. She has her own personality, her own expressions, little pieces of me and my husband that show up every day. I don’t think about the fact that she came from a donated egg. I think about how she laughs, how she settles in my arms, how fully she is ours.

If I could tell you one thing, it would be this: nurture, not nature. This journey may look different than you imagined, but the end goal is the same. A baby. A family. A love that doesn’t question where it began.

She is my daughter. Today and always.

Every donor egg journey looks a little different. Having the right support along the way makes it feel far more manageable! Here's some advice the Futura team has for IPs.

In a semi-open cycle, communication can look a few different ways. It’s structured, intentional, and designed to respect boundaries on both sides while still allowing for connection when everyone is comfortable. Check out a few of the ways you can connect with each other!

Introducing our donor coordinator Abigail! Abigail is an egg donor herself and brings warmth and compassion to the egg donor journey. We love how Abigail has a unique view of the process as a former donor herself.

"My journey with egg donation started from a place of curiosity, compassion, and a desire to help someone build the family they dreamed of. Being an egg donor was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. It showed me how deeply connected we are, even to people we may never meet. I felt proud knowing my body could give someone hope in a situation that often feels overwhelming and isolating.

The process also gave me a new level of respect for my own body. I became more aware of my reproductive health, my hormones, and how important it is for women to understand and advocate for their own care. Now, stepping into the role of case coordinator and working directly with donors has filled me with a whole new purpose.

I’m able to support women who are standing exactly where I once stood: excited, nervous, hopeful, and full of questions. I want donors to know their health comes first, their voices matter, and no question is ever too small throughout the whole process."

Dear mom to be,

There is no single “right” way to start this journey. No perfect timeline. No checklist you’re supposed to already understand. Sometimes the most helpful thing is hearing from women who’ve already been where you are. We asked real Futura intended mothers what they wish someone had told them at the beginning. Their words are honest, thoughtful, and rooted in lived experience.

Our Dear mom to be series officially begins Febraury 9th ❤️

The truth is that egg count is only one small part of a much bigger picture. Eggs don’t automatically become embryos, and embryos don’t automatically become pregnancies. Biology, lab conditions, timing, and chance all play a role, which means outcomes are never fully in anyone’s control. Clinics often look for a general range because it can give intended parents more opportunities, but ranges aren’t rules. A 29 year old can retrieve more eggs than a 21 year old or vice versa!

Throwback to linda’s conversation with SAYgelink! Linda talks about her biggest win and one of our favorite moments at Futura. It’s the babies! Linda (and the rest of the Futura team) still cry every. single. time. she sees a pregnancy or birth announcement because it never stops feeling real. These aren’t abstract outcomes. They’re actual families, actual babies, and moments that started with a decision someone trusted us with. We're very blessed to be able to help you on your journey!

An agency adds an extra layer of guidance and support throughout the donation process, helping donors feel informed, protected, and cared for at every step. While using an agency a donor gets:

❤️ Education and preparation before the cycle begins
❤️ Ongoing 24/7 communication and someone to turn to with questions
❤️ Advocacy for your wellbeing throughout the process
❤️ Coordination with the clinic so you’re never navigating appointments or results alone
❤️ Support beyond medical appointments including logistics and expectations

Using an agency helps ensure the experience feels organized, supported, and centered around you! The best part of all is that it's free for you!
