To begin with… yes, I added a lot of pictures. And yes, it was hard to leave some behind just to avoid the annoying eternal carousel (honestly, 20 pics is way too much😂).
As I gently try to bring my brain back into daily life, I wanted to share some of my favorite moments from this restoring summer trip with my kids.
Of course we went south.
Of course I went to Chiloé Island.
And of course, I slept like it was my job. 😎
I enjoy many kinds of trips, but if I get to choose, I’m drawn to destinations with history—quiet, meaningful, and a little mystical.
To me, vacations equal good sleep, really delicious food, and either precious alone time or deep connection with the people I love.
It’s actually during vacations that I test my capacity to slow down—to enjoy life without a schedule, without planning, just being present.
And I’ll be honest: it took me a long time to learn how to do that.
Because we’re programmed to perform even on vacation.
The perfect trip.
The perfectly designed experience.
Not a single second left for boredom.
Some people even feel pressure to meet a certain “level” of vacation—to match a social expectation.
How exhausting is it to live a life where we constantly choose external validation over personal happiness?
If we can enjoy a fancy, expensive meal on a yacht in Croatia just as much as a roasted lamb prepared by local farmers in their humble homes, then I believe we’re getting closer to understanding happiness outside the program.
My personal goal is to unlearn as many programmed beliefs and structures as possible—because that’s the only way I can truly discover who I am.
And through my weekly work with my spiritual teacher, I can tell you this: there is nothing more liberating than continuously discovering new parts of yourself.
Personal and spiritual work isn’t always comfortable.
But it gives you the rare privilege of understanding what happiness—and love—really mean.
