In celebration of National Volunteer Week, we are proud to highlight one of our incredible volunteers, Susan!

Susan began volunteering with Meadowlark a few years ago and has made a meaningful impact through her involvement in activities like Rock Steady Boxing, Memory Activities Class, and BINGO in Lyle House.

Susan shares, “Meadowlark became a part of my family when my mother lived here. After retiring from the Air Force, we moved to Manhattan, and after she passed away, I learned about volunteer opportunities and jumped at the chance. Meadowlark is a special place to me.”

She says one of the things she loves most is how each activity brings a unique energy. Rock Steady Boxing is filled with laughter, jokes, and plenty of good-natured ribbing. The Memory Activities Class is made up of sharp, engaged individuals who truly enjoy each other’s company. And BINGO is a weekly highlight with a group of kind, enthusiastic residents who look forward to playing together.

We are so grateful for Susan and the joy she brings to our residents and program participants. Her dedication helps create meaningful moments and lasting connections within the Meadowlark community. Thank you, Susan, for all that you do!

This week, we proudly recognize the unsung heroes of healthcare—our Health Information Management (HIM) professionals!

Often called the caretakers of medical information, HIM professionals play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity of health records. Their work is essential to high-quality care, seamless communication, and protecting resident privacy.

Thank you to Rachel, Zenaida, and Eleanor, for all they do behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly and securely. Your work makes a difference every single day!

💙 Team Member Tuesday: Meet Steve! 💙

This week, we’re featuring Steve Schreiner, Driver, who has been part of the Meadowlark team for 7 years!

⛵ Fun fact: Steve knows how to sail! During his time at Shady Creek Marina in El Dorado, he owned and sailed 14-, 16-, and 18-foot catamarans.

😊 Favorite Meadowlark memory: While driving a resident to an appointment, the two shared a lighthearted conversation about the NBAF facility — including a joke about sneaking a peek inside. Moments like these, filled with humor and connection, are what Steve enjoys most.

💛 What he loves about Meadowlark: “Everybody is really helpful. If they don’t know the answer, they will point you in the right direction.”

📸 In his spare time: Steve enjoys photography, singing, and spending time with his family — especially his four daughters and eight grandchildren.

Thank you, Steve, for the care, kindness, and positivity you bring to Meadowlark every day! 💙

Please join us in celebrating Meadowlark’s April Employee of the Month — Michelle Haub, Special Programs Leader! Michelle’s nomination comes from a participant in Meadowlark’s Memory and Parkinson’s Programs, making this recognition especially meaningful during Parkinson’s Awareness Month.

Here’s what her nominator shared:

“I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease about two years ago. That’s when my wife and I met Michelle, who introduced us to Meadowlark’s programs. Since then, I’ve been active in Rock Steady Boxing, voice classes, and caring conversations.

I’m amazed by the energy Michelle brings. She gives each of us her full attention and makes us feel seen and supported. She engages with every participant throughout each class.

We are truly blessed to have her with us as we continue our battle with Parkinson’s. She is amazing—and everyone involved would agree.”

Michelle, thank you for the compassion, energy, and dedication you bring every day. Your impact is extraordinary.

And a special thanks to Meritrust Credit Union for sponsoring this award.

Yesterday, Meadowlark concluded our 2026 Lenten Lecture Series, “A Search for Meaning,” with a meaningful final session featuring Patrick Schutter.

A native Kansan with deep roots in construction and community leadership, Patrick shared reflections shaped by his life and work. One powerful takeaway from his message was the idea that his purpose is not just building buildings — but building people.

Thank you to Patrick and to all who joined us throughout this Lenten season. It has been a meaningful journey of reflection, growth, and connection as we explored what it means to search for meaning — together. ✨
