This week, we’re featuring Julie Nederhoff, Shared RN, as part of Team Member Tuesday!

🎄Favorite Meadowlark memory: After 10 years, it’s hard to choose just one — but Julie fondly remembers the Stolzer House Christmas party in 2018. With a resident playing piano, everyone gathered — staff, residents, and families — to sing carols, share gifts, and enjoy a beautiful, festive evening together.

💛 What she loves about Meadowlark: “The family/community feel. Staff and residents truly become family. We share so many memories together — Meadowlark is so much more than just a place to work.”

🏡 In her spare time: Julie enjoys cooking, gardening, crafting, and spending quality time with her family. Whether it’s hobbies at home or adventures with their two dogs and four cats, family time is at the heart of it all.

On Wednesday, March 18, Meadowlark continued our 2026 Lenten Lecture Series, “A Search for Meaning,” with a meaningful fifth session.

We were honored to welcome Erin Freidline, Deputy Director of the Riley County Police Department, who shared insights shaped by her extensive career in law enforcement and leadership. From patrol to administration, Erin’s experience highlighted resilience, service, and finding purpose through both challenges and responsibility.

This week in the Lenten Lecture booklet, Melanie Nord, Spiritual Life Leader, explored Viktor Frankl’s concept of “super meaning” — the idea that some aspects of life’s purpose and suffering are beyond human understanding. While we naturally seek answers, not all questions can be resolved through logic alone.

Thank you to Erin and all who joined us for another thoughtful conversation in this Lenten journey.

On Wednesday, March 11, Meadowlark welcomed Jeff Heidbreder, Fitness Leader at Meadowlark, as the fourth speaker in our 2026 Lenten Lecture Series, “A Search for Meaning.”

Jeff shared reflections rooted in his passion for health, balance, and living an active life—values shaped by his background in Human Performance & Fitness from North Dakota State University and his lifelong love of sports and wellness. His perspective encouraged attendees to consider how caring for our physical well-being can also support a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment.

This week, Melanie Nord, Spiritual Life Leader, highlighted Viktor Frankl’s reflections on the meaning of love and suffering. Frankl believed that love allows us to see not only who someone is, but also who they have the potential to become. He also taught that when we face situations we cannot change, our opportunity for meaning lies in how we change ourselves in response.

Thank you to Jeff and to everyone who joined us for another meaningful conversation as we continue this Lenten journey together.

At the end of February, Meadowlark hosted our annual Years of Service Employee Party to celebrate the incredible dedication of our team members. 🎉

Staff enjoyed an evening of food, games, prizes, and time together as we recognized employees celebrating 1, 5, 10, and 15 years of service. We also celebrated a truly remarkable milestone—Brad Olson’s 40 years of service. Brad’s decades of dedication have made a lasting impact, and we are grateful for all he has contributed to Meadowlark over the years.

Thank you to all of our employees for the passion and care you bring to your work every day. We appreciate you! 👏

✨ Fresh Face Friday ✨

Say hello to Eleanor Badeker, Meadowlark’s Health Information Management (HIM) Clerk!

Eleanor loves diving into the many moving parts that help Meadowlark care for residents each day. Working in the HIM office has given her a behind-the-scenes look at how everything comes together—from records to operations—and she enjoys learning more about the impressive work happening across the organization.

One of Eleanor’s favorite things about Meadowlark is the people. She says that simply walking down the halls often leads to kind words or fun interactions that brighten her day. 💙

📚 Fun fact: Eleanor is a big fantasy fan and loves reading stories that build entirely new worlds—especially ones with dragons! Growing up, her favorite movie was How to Train Your Dragon.

🌾 Outside of work: Eleanor enjoys spending time with her parents and their dog at home in the Flint Hills, often going for walks when the weather is nice. She also loves hanging out with friends and going out to concerts, plays, and community events.

We’re glad you’re part of the Meadowlark team, Eleanor! 👏

Yesterday, Meadowlark continued our 2026 Lenten Lecture Series, “A Search for Meaning.”

We were honored to welcome Dr. Lisa Melander, Professor of Sociology at Kansas State University, whose research focuses on incarceration, family relationships, and reentry. Her work explores how individuals maintain identity, connection, and purpose even in difficult circumstances.

Additionally, this week, Melanie Nord, Spiritual Life Leader, encouraged reflection on Viktor Frankl’s concept of logotherapy — the belief that meaning is the primary motivational force in life. Frankl observed that even in suffering, those who find meaning are better able to endure and grow.

Thank you to Dr. Melander and all who joined us as we continue exploring what it means to search for meaning — together.
