If your birth work practice feels like it's always “on,” you're not alone.

Many birth workers enter this field with deep intention and quickly find themselves navigating unclear boundaries, constant availability, and emotional exhaustion.

The issue isn't your commitment.

It's the lack of structure supporting your work.

We created a guide for birth workers who want to build a practice that is both impactful and sustainable, without burning out in the process. 🙌

Inside, you'll find tips for creating clearer boundaries, more supportive systems, and a more grounded way of working with clients.

If you’ve ever felt like your practice is asking more from you than you can sustainably give, you are not alone.

Many birth workers enter this field with a deep sense of purpose and a desire to serve. What’s often missing isn’t commitment, but structure.

Without clear boundaries and systems, birth work can slowly expand into every corner of your time and energy. Not because the work is wrong, but because the container has not been defined.

Sustainability doesn’t come from trying to give less.

It comes from building a practice that can actually hold what you give!

These six secrets are the foundation for creating a practice that is clear, supported, and able to last.

If you’re ready to build something more intentional and sustainable:

After birth, many parents realize they need feeding support but are not sure where to turn.

Most birth worker trainings do not offer comprehensive lactation education. That leaves a real gap in care.

ILFS was designed to help close that gap.

This program takes a practical, real-life approach to feeding support. Inside, you will learn about breastfeeding, combo feeding, hands-on techniques, counseling skills, follow-up support, and how to guide families without judgment or assumptions.

Enrollment is open through tomorrow, March 13.

Pricing for the Integrative Lactation and Feeding Specialist Program is offered in two tiers, including an inclusivity discount for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and people with disabilities.

This training is for the people who are actually in it with families.

The doulas.
The midwives.
The community birth workers.
The ones who pick up the phone.

Because the truth is, there is a huge drop off after birth.

Families leave the hospital after a 10 minute visit with an IBCLC. Nurses are caring for multiple parents and babies at once. The latch “looks good.” Skin to skin happened. Everyone goes home.

And then?

“Nobody told me this.”
“I was up at 2am Googling.”
“I felt totally alone.”

We love IBCLCs. We love the system when it works. And we also know there are real barriers to accessing ongoing lactation support.

Our focus is not on the rare and complicated.

Our focus is the common things. What babies actually do. How to listen to parental instinct. How to offer steady, community based support in the first year.

You do not need to be a doctor.
You do not need a master’s degree.
You *do* need to care deeply about families and want to close the gap.

If that’s you, join us at Manhattan Birth for the Spring 2026 Integrative Lactation and Feeding Specialist Program®.

Enrollment closes next week on March 13. Register here → https://bit.ly/46USgYg

Let’s make sure fewer families are left Googling alone.

Our 10-week Integrative Lactation and Feeding Specialist Program® is open for enrollment! 🙌

Why work with us?

👉 We consider the full picture.
Our program addresses the institution and family structure that act as support or barriers to the family/new parent.

👉 Our community is inclusive.
We are creating a credential that is taught from an inclusive and actively anti-racist perspective. Single, LGBTQIA+ families, and adopted families are not othered.

👉 Our training is in-depth.
This program offers varied modes of learning, from weekly case studies and formal presentations to small group meetings, mentorship and more. Complete the course with a final exam, written lactation assessments and a case study presentation and walk away with a credential that you can be proud to hold.

Ever wonder how the body actually starts making milk?

During pregnancy, colostrum develops and after birth, the placenta triggers the hormones that start mature milk production.

Small tips like collecting a little colostrum for “anxiety feeding” can help parents feel more confident and prepared.

We go over all of this and more in our Integrative Lactation and Feeding SpecialistÂŽ ProgramÂŽ.

The next cohort starts March 16. Sign up to deepen your skills and support families with confidence! → https://bit.ly/4twsvrf
