Your Therapist Online

Your Therapist Online Private Telemental Health practice run by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Your Therapist Online was founded by Gregory Gannon, LCSW as a means to bring online therapy to clients who have difficulty managing their busy schedules. Your Therapist Online was designed with clients in mind and offers a user friendly, but unique person-centered experience that is unlike other telemental health providers in that Your Therapist Online is owned and operated by a single provider, yours.

This is so sad. I'm sharing this to remind everyone that there is help out there. There is such a thing as healing after a trauma. You're not crazy for seeing a therapist. We can help you make sense of a senseless tragedy or help you complete the loss you experienced as a result of trauma. If you or someone you know is struggling. Urge them to get help. Talk to someone. People may have cause your trauma, but it's also people who will help you heal.

Being a telemental health provider has its ups and downs. Eye contact, which is a great way to bond with clients, is surely lacking and the service interruptions can hinder the flow of treatment. There is no denying, though, that you can still see the care and concern we show every client and the lengths we go to build a trusting rapport. Research shows telemental health has the same positive outcomes as traditional practice.

Mental-health professionals are adapting to virtual technology—and embracing its upside.

Just a quick thought I had while talking with a client today. Seems more than a few people have stopped reaching out to friends and have started getting sucked into online debates with people they don't typically talk to in real life.

Stop. Think for a minute. Think about your interactions online for the past few months. Really think about them. The posts you've made comments on. The news articles you've clicked. The people you're interacting with. Now ask yourself: Have any of them been your close friends? Have any of the posts....

Who attempts/completes su***de? It's your neighbor, a friend, a family member. It's the bullied kid down the street, a day, people with , , and .
It's the person who pretends to be happy when on the inside they feel alone. The person who works so hard to achieve perfection, but it's always out of reach.
The person who attempts/completes su***de is the one who thinks they are relieving the burden their feelings put on other people.
Or the person who thinks they won't be missed.
It may be the person you least expect.
It may be you. You will be missed

Happy Monday! I had to post this as I was thinking today how often people expect therapists to be a human lie detector.
Spoiler Alert: Some people are really good at lying.
Secon spoiler alert: We try not to question what our clients tell us, as it can often be damaging to the relationship.
Also, if a person walks away feeling good about lying to their therapist then, in reality, they are simply lying to themselves and their treatment will go no where.
Do yourself a favor, be open and honest with your therapist. You gain nothing with lies and will end up hurting your own treatment. We aren't here to judge. We're to help you improve your life.

New York has a see something, say something campaign. Maybe therapists should have their own as well? So much goes left unsaid that we could all experience a little less grief and strife if we simply let go of self-judgments about having feelings and shared them.

In the next several weeks, I'm fully expecting to hear people talking about su***de as a coward's way out. I'm even expecting to hear people talk about others as "worthless" and that stories of su***de don't bother them.
I'm also quite sure that many people hear things like this within their own families or social circles.
Maybe you've had thoughts of su***de. Maybe you've thought you're worthless. Messages like these, especially from people close to you, can often lead a person to internalize these beliefs.
So let's all say this together: Your Life Matters.
Don't listen to people who don't know what it's like to not experience an internal struggle. Chances are they are in denial and how fair is that that you would hurt yourself because they can't admit their own pain?
Here is how to resolve thoughts and feelings like these:

1) Be brave
2) Tell someone you trust
3) Get help
4) Heal
5) Live
