As we discussed recently at our low back pain workshop - Nutrition is Important!
Good nutrition is the foundation of a strong, vibrant life. It fuels our bodies, supports immunity, boosts energy, and promotes mental well-being. As winter settles in, seasonal produce like sweet potatoes, kale, citrus fruits, and winter squash offer powerful nutrients to keep us healthy. These colorful foods are packed with vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants — perfect for supporting heart, bone, and digestive health. Let’s embrace the goodness of winter produce and keep nourishing our bodies all season long! 🌱❄️

Does running cause knee arthritis? The short answer is no, the long answer is nooooooooooo.
A recent study reviewed data from over 114,000 people and found that only 3.5% of recreational runners developed knee or hip arthritis, compared to 10.2% of sedentary individuals. That's right—staying active could actually reduce your risk!

Recreational running for up to 15 years or more is safe for your joints and even beneficial. Just remember, moderation is key—elite-level running (professional/Olympic level) could increase your risk. 13.3% of those athletes surveyed developed knee or hip arthritis over their lifetimes. So keep running to keep those joints healthy!

It happens to the best of us, cruising along on your bike or running hard in a race, and suddenly… CRAMP! Your hamstring, calf, adductor, and even your feet can cause you problems and send you from the front of the pack to the back of the race. What causes cramps, and how can we prevent them? Unfortunately, there is no magic bullet or combination of pickle juice/stretching/deep breathing to fix them permanently. There are various theories of what causes cramps, including but not limited to dehydration, too little sodium in the body, and electrical misfiring of your already fatigued muscles. Whatever the reason, think of a cramp as the commander in chief of your body telling you it’s time to pump the brakes. It’s usually a sign that you are pushing too hard and your body is giving you a nudge (or in some cases, a big shove), and you should slow your pace, drink some electrolytes, stretch out a little, and maybe curse yourself and your training plan.
