Since November 19, 1956, Pawnee has been proud to serve our communities with care, compassion, and support. From our first clinic in Riley County to the wide range of services we offer today, our mission has always been the same: helping individuals and families thrive.

We are so grateful to our amazing staff, partners, and community for being part of this journey. Together, we’ve made a difference for nearly seven decades—and we look forward to continuing this work for many more! 💙

Training for a Safer, Stronger Community!

Big Lakes Developmental Center, Inc. staff completed De-Escalation Training, gaining crucial skills to handle challenging situations safely. In Mitchell County, staff from the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office, Kansas Wildlife & Parks - Game Wardens, Mitchell County Health Department, and MC EMS completed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), learning how to recognize and respond to mental health crises.

Together, we’re building safer, more supportive communities for everyone! 💙

We’re grateful to share that Pawnee Mental Health has received a $20,000 grant from the Dean Coughenour Trust to support our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) in Manhattan. 💚

This funding strengthens our ability to provide life-saving behavioral health care for individuals in crisis across our 10-county service area.

Stacy brings years of experience in crisis management, peer support, and emergency communications to her role overseeing our Junction City and Clay Center offices. Her leadership and passion for helping others are already making a difference.

Thank you to the PeaceFull Pantry at Peace Lutheran Church Manhattan for hosting a De-escalation Training last week! Volunteers from both Peace Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church of Manhattan, KS participated, learning valuable skills to help support others in moments of crisis.
We’re grateful for all who continue to build stronger, more compassionate communities through mental health education. 💙

This week, the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training—bringing together community leaders and local organizations to learn how to recognize and respond to mental health challenges with compassion and confidence.

Participants represented Big Lakes Developmental Center, Inc., Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan, ReNew Spa & Fitness, Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters serving Riley, Geary, Pottawatomie Counties, and Heineken Electric Co., Inc..
