🍂 Happy October! Did you know it's National Eczema Awareness Month? 💙

At Tru North Dermatology, we are dedicated to helping patients who live with the constant itch, pain, and discomfort of eczema.

A common misconception is that eczema is only a childhood condition. That's false! Adults can develop any type of eczema.

Adult-Onset Eczema: You can develop Atopic Dermatitis (the most common form) for the very first time as an adult—sometimes even in your 50s!

Recurrence: It can also go away in childhood and return years later.

Appearance: In adults, eczema tends to be intensely dry, scaly, and leathery, often appearing on the backs of the knees, crooks of the elbows, back of the neck, and around the eyes.

Contagion: Eczema is NOT contracted or contagious; it's a chronic condition driven by a combination of genetics and immune factors.

You don't have to manage flares alone. If you are experiencing intensely itchy and painful patches, our providers offer the latest, personalized treatment plans to get your symptoms under control and help you find lasting relief.

We've all been there. You wake up, look in the mirror, and a new, mysterious polka-dot pattern has taken up residence on your body. Was it that new laundry detergent? The rogue spider bite? Did you just spontaneously develop a new allergy to... everything?

A rash is like a party crasher for your skin. It shows up without an invitation, makes a huge, itchy scene, and refuses to leave.

Don't spend your days scratching your head (and everything else). Let the experts at Tru North Dermatology send that uninvited guest packing. We'll get to the bottom of your skin's little mystery and restore peace and tranquility to your epidermis.

Happy first day of fall from Tru North Dermatology! 🍂 As the seasons change, so does the weather, and so should your skincare routine. The cooler, drier air can affect your skin, so now is a great time to focus on hydration and protection.

Here are a few tips to keep your skin healthy and glowing all season long:

Moisturize: Switch to a thicker, more hydrating moisturizer to combat dryness.

Sunscreen: Don't put away your sunscreen just yet! The sun's UV rays are still strong, even on cloudy days. Continue to apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily.

Hydrate from within: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin plump and radiant.

Ready to refresh your skin for fall? Schedule an appointment with us to discuss a personalized skincare plan.

August is Hair Loss Awareness Month, and at Tru North Dermatology, we want to talk about a common type of hair loss: excessive hair shedding.

It’s normal to shed between 50 and 100 hairs a day, but when the body sheds significantly more, it's called telogen effluvium. This temporary condition often happens a few months after a stressful event. Have you recently:

Lost 20 pounds or more?

Given birth?

Experienced a lot of stress?

Recovered from a high fever or operation?

Stopped taking birth-control pills?

If so, you might notice an increase in hair shedding a couple of months later. The good news is that for most people, this shedding is temporary and stops on its own. As your body readjusts, your hair should regain its normal fullness within six to nine months.

However, if the stressor remains, the shedding can be prolonged. If you're concerned about hair loss, our team is here to help you understand the cause and find a solution. Schedule an appointment with us to learn more.
