🎉 November Spotlight: ELEVEN-YEAR-OLDS!
Eleven is a big year. Kids at this age are standing at the doorway between childhood and adolescence, and they’re eager for more responsibility, independence, and freedom to explore who they are becoming. Here are three key ways to support them:
1. Teach Them How to Manage Their Own Schedule
Around 11, kids can start using simple planners or calendar apps. Encourage them to track homework, activities, and important dates. This builds early executive-function skills and helps them feel capable and organized.
2. Encourage Healthy Identity Exploration
Eleven-year-olds are starting to ask big questions about who they are. Support their interests—sports, music, style, hobbies—even if they change weekly. Let them try things out without pressure, giving them space to discover what feels authentic to them.
3. Introduce Money Skills With Real Practice
This is a perfect age to learn budgeting basics. Give them the chance to manage small amounts of money—allowance, birthday cash, or helping plan a low-cost family outing. Teach them how to save for goals, compare prices, and make thoughtful spending choices.
