If your side plank feels shaky, your system isn’t fully connected yet.

Adding a band row turns it into a full stability challenge:
• lateral core strength
• hip control
• upper back engagement

The goal isn’t just to hold the position. It’s to stay stacked and steady while the arm moves.

DPT Liz suggests using the edge of your mat as a visual guide — your body should stay parallel to it. The side plank row is a favorite of hers bc it makes you hold the right position (mostly 😜)!

Only the arm rows.
Everything else remains still and stacked.

That’s the kind of core strength that supports walking, lifting, and staying active for life.

Adding a dumbbell pass challenges your trunk to resist rotation and prevent hip drop — instead of just holding a static plank.

Now you’re training:
• anti-rotation strength
• shoulder stability
• trunk control under load

We took our favorite takeaways from their discussion and turned them into a quick, actionable playbook for women 40+:

💪 Lift weights 3x/week

We often get asked if tape is there to “hold things in place.”

The answer is no—and that’s the beauty of it.

Kinesio tape provides gentle sensory input to the nervous system. It helps the brain better understand where your body is in space, which can reduce guarding, improve coordination, and support movement without restriction.

It’s not about forcing alignment.

It’s about offering information.

When the nervous system feels supported, movement becomes more efficient—and pain often softens as a result.

Tape is just one tool we use as part of a bigger picture: helping the system reset so the body can rebuild.
