Yesterday morning we were serenaded during breakfast by Mt. Olive Lutheran School's sixth grade class! The students shared some Bible verses from the Nativity story before singing many of the most beloved Christmas hymns while their teacher accompanied them on the piano. The class also took a few requests after the kiddos from the child care arrived, including Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. They even sang Happy Birthday to our resident who celebrated her special day yesterday. Many thanks to these students for sharing the Christmas cheer with us all! 🎄🎶

🎶 "Go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born!" 🎶

Pastor Brian from Community Covenant Church in Mankato often joins us on Thursday mornings to lead a hymn sing with our residents. This week, we sang Christmas carols! For the month of November we had an installation of Thankful Trees in our living room at Generations. 🪾🪾🍃🍁🍂

We talked about what we were thankful for with the residents, the preschoolers, and the toddlers, and everyone was invited to add to add their blessings to the tree. Each time we passed through the doors to the dining room we saw the trees, and they were a beautiful reminder of all we are thankful for! We have taken the trees down to make room for our Christmas tree, but we wanted to share what the Generations community added —

We are thankful for:
my family, my children, the farm, music, my children, for letting my voice be heard, for what's here right now, my family, my mother, my chair, a cozy place to be, my family, laughter, the babies, the Lord - faith is what you need, this very special place, my faith, my residents, Ms. Lindsey, chickens, the staff here, mommy & Tony, daddy, mama, mom & dad, mama, my puppy, my mom, my cousins, my two dogs, my mom & dad, unicorns, daddy, my home, my mama, my home, my daddy, my mom & dad, my cousin, pinecones, my dog and baby brother, my cousins, everyone here, grandpa, grandma, my family, seeing "grandfriends" & the kiddos together, our amazing residents, my friends and family, my kitty, shelter & food, kittens, outside, family, all of our staff & grandfriends & kiddos, this community - the senior living and child care are like a large tree with two trunks and beautiful leaves 🤎

Happy Thanksgiving! 🤎🧡 We hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating all you're thankful for. Right at the top of our list are all of these faces!

Yesterday we celebrated the holiday with Grandfriendsgiving! We set one long table for the grandfriends and the kiddos to enjoy each others' company and some sweet treats. It was as special and sweet (and busy!) as you would imagine! So thankful for it all!

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting the Minnesota Over-60 Band! The babies, toddlers, and preschoolers joined the grandfriends for the music, and everyone was clapping, dancing, and singing along! They even gave a special birthday serenade to one of our residents. Many thanks to these musicians for the special concert! 🎶
