What do you get when sisters share an office suite for their private practices? Cue the shenanigans, because this is NOT an April Fools.

Cedar & Ivy Counseling will now be at 816 S Front St and (as of today) 530 N Riverfront Dr!

Let’s be clear:

Conversion therapy is not therapy. It is harm.
We fully and unapologetically stand with the LGBTQ+ community. Your identity is not something to fix. It is something to honor.

Recent Supreme Court decisions move us further from protecting vulnerable people, and that matters. These rulings impact real lives and real mental health. Adults who underwent conversion therapy are 92% more likely to consider su***de in their lifetime.

At Cedar & Ivy Counseling Services, we believe you deserve affirming, safe, and respectful care exactly as you are.

We’re here. 🏳️‍🌈

Signs you’ve found the right therapist:

•You don’t rehearse your life story in the parking lot first.
•You accidentally say something way too honest and then just… keep going.
•You feel called out, but also weirdly understood (aka “I feel so seen”).
•You leave thinking “that was a lot” and feel a little lighter.
•You can show up as your full, unfiltered self.
•Bonus sign: you feel like you’re sitting with a human who gets you, not a person who is analyzing you.

That’s the kind of space we care about creating at Cedar & Ivy 🤍

Therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff, awkward, or one-size-fits-all.

It should feel collaborative and safe enough to be real.

If you’ve been looking for a good therapy fit, we’d love to help you find it.

Self Disclosure 💬

Therapists are taught not to share much about themselves, and honestly, there are really good reasons for that. It protects your space, keeps the focus on you, and helps therapy feel steady and safe.

But here’s something we don’t talk about enough: Therapists are human too.

And sometimes, in the right moment, a small, thoughtful bit of realness can help you feel less alone. Not a monologue. Not shifting the focus. Just enough to remind you that you’re sitting with someone who gets it, not just someone who studied it.

Because therapy isn’t about being observed or analyzed from a distance.

It’s about being with someone.

Someone who can hold your worries without judgment. Someone who isn’t afraid of your feelings. Someone who knows that vulnerability is hard because they’ve experienced it too.

That’s the kind of space we care about creating here.

A place where you don’t have to have it all together.

A place where you can say the thing you’ve been holding in.

A place where you feel safe enough to be fully, honestly human.

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, this is your reminder. We know it’s a brave choice to make because we’re human too 🤍

We have lots of new faces here, so it’s time to continue reintroducing our team!✌🏻

Meet Katelyn!

Favorite Emojis: 🤣😭

Hobbies: Playing video games, coloring, plants, and Bedazzling 🪩

When I’m not working, I am usually: Watching my favorite tv shows, spending time with close friends and family, or sleeping 😴

If I brought something to potluck it would be: Probably some store bought spinach artichoke dip 🙈

I love being a therapist because: In a world that often asks us to hold it all together, I get to offer something different—a place to slow down, feel seen, and explore what’s actually going on beneath the surface. Therapy isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong” with you—it’s about having a space where you can come as you are.

Dissociation isn’t random, your nervous system is trying to protect you.

Ever feel like you suddenly check out, go numb, or feel far away from what’s happening around you?

Our nervous systems have something called a window of tolerance. This is the zone where we can think clearly, feel our emotions, and stay present. When stress or overwhelm pushes us outside that window, our brains try to protect us. Sometimes that shows up as anxiety or panic. Sometimes it shows up as dissociation.

Learning about your window of tolerance can be really powerful. It helps you notice when you are reaching your limit and gives you permission to pause and regulate before your system shuts down.

Taking breaks, grounding through your senses, moving your body, slowing your breathing, or connecting with someone safe can help bring you back into your window.

These skills can help shift you out of dissociation and toward healthy detachment. This means having space from overwhelming feelings while still staying connected to yourself.
If this resonates with you, learning self regulation skills in therapy can make a big difference. You do not have to figure it out alone. 🤍
