3 Hydration Facts You need to Know 🧐💧
Most people don’t realize how much performance they lose just by being 2% dehydrated.
That small drop is enough to slow your strength, endurance, focus, and even recovery by up to 30–50%.
Here’s what you need to know 👇
1️⃣ Water fuels performance - it regulates temperature, blood flow, and nutrient delivery.
2️⃣ Electrolytes + carbs = better hydration - sodium, potassium, and glycogen store water in your muscle cells.
3️⃣ Hydration fuels recovery - staying hydrated accelerates glycogen replenishment and hormone balance after training.
💡 Pro tip: For every hour you train, aim for:
• 16–24oz of water
• 400–600mg sodium
• and 15–30g carbs (like fruit juice, highly branched cyclic dextrins, or sports drink mixes)
Your hydration habits could be the missing link between feeling flat and performing at your peak.

Hi, my name is Gunnar Storm Boettcher, and I have owned and operated Gunstorm Muscle Health, LLC for nearly six years now. The goal of my business is to provide a true singularity of focus on individual’s muscular systems to positively impact their health through my services of Muscle Activation Techniques® therapy and personalized resistance training.
The history of Gunstorm Muscle Health, LLC really stems back to when I was just a child. For some unknown desire to always want to understand the “why” to everything, at 9 years old, I began lifting weights and educating myself on muscles, weight lifting, and health. At 9 years old, I could not only name every major muscle group in the body, but I could also provide multiple exercises for each and various angles to work them in. For more than 17 years, I have continued to do the same -expanding and diving deeper on my knowledge of exercise and the human body. I received my degree in Exercise Physiology from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, MN and became certified as a personal trainer five years ago. And that’s where my journey of applying the knowledge and skills I’ve learned finally began.
However, over the course of many years of trial and error, and many sports injuries, I had amassed a large amount of muscle compensations and joint pain. Two years into my personal training business, I almost had to shut it down and end my journey. I was dealing with such severe low back pain at the time, I could barely walk, jog, lift, and it crippled me to the floor in pain more times than I can count. Physically, things were not looking good. I was seeing months and months worth of chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, performing physical therapy on myself and trying to learn more. You pick the potential attempt at relief, I was doing it. Unfortunately, though, nothing in my specific case was impacting it permanently enough to make a difference.
Then, like a miracle, I came upon the therapy and performance modality, Muscle Activation Techniques® (read more in the “Service” and “About” section), created 20 years ago by founder, Greg Roskopf, and it changed my world. Entering upon it and being treated, it personally, in combination with my expertise of how to influence resistance training on muscles, made such a positive impact on my body and pain, I was compelled to learn it and add it to my toolbox of knowledge and skills. Logically, the MAT® just made a tremendous deal of sense to me, too – “turn on”/activate the muscles that are not working and the body will begin functioning again, mechanically, like it is suppose to. So, for well over a year, I drove to and from Chicago, IL every month to study it and become certified. I am now the first and only Certified MAT® Specialist pioneering southern Minnesota. Regularly, I now travel to and from Denver, CO to continue my education.
It is this story that I will preach for years to come. MAT® saved my life, and I feel it is my duty to serve and help others. I am a living, breathing example of the positive impact MAT® and precise resistance training have both had, and continue to have, on my life.
