As we approach Veterans Day, we honor Joe and Eddie. Two Purple Heart recipients whose courage shaped history. Joe enlisted on his graduation day in 1943. Eddie volunteered to scout a minefield in Italy. Our blog shares their remarkable stories of sacrifice and the lives they built after the war.

We share the stories of two Purple Heart recipients about their WWII combat stories. Joe and Eddie call The Goodman Group managed communities home, inspiring all who meet them.

👻🎃 Halloween fun and trick-or-treating! 🍬🕸️

Old Main Village was full of festive fun this Halloween! Residents and visitors enjoyed costumes, candy and plenty of cheer. We even had a special visit from Luna, the pet of one of our caregivers! Thank you to everyone who joined in on trick-or-treating and helped make the day so special! 🧡🕷

🎲 Farkle Friday Fun! 🎲

Residents spent the afternoon rolling the dice and laughing together during our Farkle Friday game time!

This easy-to-learn game brought out everyone’s competitive (and lucky!) side. We had so much fun—can’t wait for the next round!

🧡 Orange You Glad It’s Happy Hour! 🧡

Residents had a zesty good time at our orange-themed happy hour! 🍊 We enjoyed bright and cheerful orange snacks along with classic deviled eggs. The featured drink of the day was a refreshing punch made with pineapple juice and orange soda — with the option to top it off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a splash of Malibu rum! 🍹 Smiles, laughter, and sunshine made this happy hour one to remember!

🍳 Cooking with Mike! 👨‍🍳

This month, we focused on simple and delicious snack options that residents can easily make on their own. Mike showed everyone how to prepare classic deviled eggs, sharing tips for perfecting the recipe and adding creative twists for extra flavor. 🥚✨

We also learned a bit about the history of deviled eggs—a dish that’s been enjoyed for centuries and continues to be a favorite at gatherings and potlucks everywhere! Residents had a great time mixing, tasting, and chatting while creating their own snacks.

We had a fantastic time celebrating with live music from the Wendinger Band, delicious brats, sauerkraut, German potato salad and German chocolate cake. And of course, there was plenty of beer to go around! 🍻
