Each one of our herd members gets a set day or 2 off every week to rest & recharge. If humans aren’t expected to work every day, why would the horses be any different?? Having quality time to rest means that they can show up as their best selves for our clients.

Avalon is our most seasoned therapy horse, who’s been with us for all 14 years that Healing with Horses Ranch has served the greater Austin area. She’s wise, patient, and steadfast. She’s the herd mother, a trauma survivor, and a teacher of many.

The name Avalon comes from the mythical, enchanted island from Arthurian legend, renowned as a paradise or place of magic, and symbolizes healing, immortality, and a threshold between the mortal world & the otherworld.

Avalon took place in this gorgeous photoshoot, which perfectly captures this magical energy she radiates. She is so special 💫

Healing with Horses Ranch is a 501c3 nonprofit providing equine-assisted services in Central Texas. Through the partnership of horses & humans, we help individuals build resilience, independence, and strong relationships in a safe, inclusive environment where growth is lasting & life-changing.
