April marks Alcohol Awareness Month — a time to recognize the real impact alcohol use has on individuals, families and our communities.
The numbers are difficult to ignore. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse & Alcoholism (NIAAA):
• Over 178,000 lives are lost each year in the U.S. due to excessive alcohol use
• More than 27 million adults are living with alcohol use disorder
But behind every statistic is a person. A story. A family.
We see that every day.
At Discovery Addiction Services, we meet people in moments that require real courage —
whether it’s taking the first step to ask for help, rebuilding trust and connection, or continuing the work of recovery.
Healing is possible and support is here. Our approach is rooted in compassion, respect and measurement-based care — because every person deserves to be seen, heard and uplifted.
This month, let it be a reminder to take care of yourself and those around you.
