The Equine Movement Lab

The Equine Movement Lab EQMVMTLAB helps competitive riders get to the next level with a biomechanical approach to chiro care! (Vet Referral Required for Equine Chiropractic Care)

We are biomechanical lameness specialists and experts in human movement. Our biomechanical approach to health care integrates well with traditional veterinary medicine and complements the goals of owners, trainers, and farriers. Our goal is to improve the body dynamics of both the horse and rider with innovative manual sports medicine treatments to achieve sport longevity.

Let's uplevel this sport!

I'm so excited to be doing another live webinar! I've created an all-new webinar for you riders to learn how to unlock your potential in the saddle!

Let science help you improve the art of riding and bridge the gap between what you know you should be doing in the saddle and how to get your body to actually do it!

Mark your calendars and show up live! (There will be a 7-day access to the recording for all registered guests)

In a new six-phase study spanning three years, and over 400 horses, Dr. Sue Dyson and colleagues developed The Ridden Horse Pain Ethogram (RHpE), a tool to reliably predict lameness before the condition worsens into limping and other obvious signs of injuries.

The RHpE is a catalogue of 24 behaviours which scientific studies have demonstrated can be associated with pain in the ridden horse.

The majority of these behaviours are at least ten times more likely to be seen in lame horses compared with non-lame horses.

I can't urge you all enough - stop playing the "this is just they are" card and get your vet, chiropractor, saddle fitter, or body worker out to look at things.

A good practitioner should be able to link your complaint with what they see and feel in your horse and have a plan on how they are going to address the issue.

If you have any questions about any new or chronic behaviours you are having with your horse, shoot me a DM and we will see what we can do to get you to the next level!!

Here is a link to the article covering the 24 behavioural signs.

We address so much more than just the joints!

Get the benefit of vacuum cupping therapy when you choose to work with us for your equine's bodywork needs!

We examine your horse under the lens of biomechanics (for both the horse & the rider) and help you come up with the best solution to address any physical barriers to performance.

We have found that adding vacuum cupping to our appointments allows you to maximize the effect of our recommended adjustments by addressing the deeper myofascial components of the adapted motor patterns caused by pain or injury.

Vacuum cupping allows us to influence the deeper layers of connective tissue without having to add additional compressive forces. This makes this treatment more comfortable for our equine friends but also more effective at bringing better blood flow back to areas of fibrosis.

If you'd like to book a consult to see how we can help get you to the next level for next year - book a consult from the link on our webpage! www.eqmvmtlab.com

Good luck!

"That's just the way he goes."

I often hear so many of my clients talk about their horses this way.

It's just their weak side
They've always fall in on that right shoulder
He always struggles to pick up that lead

None of us are perfect, but we can constantly strive to be better, move more efficiently, and help prevent our bodies from breaking down if we stop using excuses about our weaknesses.

When you catch yourself just saying...' that's just my weak side' or 'he's just getting older, so this is normal, I want you to ask the question

What am I doing to support or help this?

If you need help figuring out what you can do to support you or horse with these asymmetries - jump on a discovery call today!

When I watch the interactions between coach and rider - it motivates me to help educate the equestrian world about the large gap that exists between what coaches are saying and what riders are doing with their body in the saddle!

Trainers constantly search for different ways to say the same things to help their students improve their position so they can influence their horse to move better - but if the rider doesn't have the capacity to move their body in a certain way, it doesn't matter how many times they say it, or how many different coaches say it - a rider needs body awareness and control before they can coordinate the motions in the saddle to produce the right effect.

Book a performance consult today to find the reason your progress may not be going as quickly as you hoped for in the saddle.

Hello - I'm Andrea!

I help competitive riders get to the next level by utilizing applied sports biomechanics to optimize movement efficiency in the horse to prevent injury and at the same time help you as a rider build a more effective seat in the saddle.

With over 14 years of clinical experience in the industry, working with both vets and coaches - I understand the struggles the industry experiences when trying to keep our horses in top form, improve our riding skills, and make the sport sustainable so we can all enjoy our relationships with these magnificent animals for years to come without mental frustration, confusion or setbacks.

If you're ready to break past a training plateau, discover how to optimize performance, prevent mechanical strain injuries, or create a more effective seat - set up a discovery call today!

Over the last 15 years, the statement that Riders are athletes is becoming more mainstream - which is awesome! We need to train our bodies out of the saddle!

However, most Riders I've seen struggle to achieve the pre-requisites of joint motion and stabiity to get the desired effect of the exercises they've been prescribed to do.

This results in "strengthening" the compensatory body patterns that they are ultimately trying to undo with the fitness training.

Details matter! Intent matters! The law of specificity states that you get better at what you train. As Riders, we need suppleness and control. Not explosive power, brute strength or extreme flexibility.

If you've been trying to improve your position, but things aren't progressing quite as you hoped, book a call to see of the Move to Ride Coaching Program is right for you! (Link in Bio)
