Today is World Understanding and Peace Day. In a world where things are increasingly uncertain, this day stands as a reminder that coming together helps us all.

From the rotary website: World Peace and Understanding Day 2026 on 23 February marks Rotary’s 1905 founding, promoting global peace, service, ethical leadership and international cooperation.... service, ethical leadership and international cooperation can promote harmony across societies. It reminds people that sustainable peace requires justice, empathy and collaborative action at every level of society....

May peace and horses be with you!

How to use a tie blocker: this can seem really simple, but failure to use a tie blocker correctly can result in broken gear, scared horses, and injured people.

So what’s the right way? Start by tying your halter correctly, and walking your horse safely to the wall. When you arrive at a tie blocker, hold your lead rope about 12 inches from the bottom of your horse’s halter. At the 12 inches mark, fold your lead rope into a loop, and stick the loop through the hole in the blocker tie. The pin of the blocker tie should be closer to the wall, away from you and your lead rope. Once you’ve placed your rope through the blocker tie, raise the pin through the loop and secure the magnet. Fold and place the extra rope over the wall to keep it out of your way.

A few things to pay attention to: if you put the lead rope through the back of the blocker tie, on the magnetic pin side, it’s much easier for your horse to get free. And, if your rope is to long between the halter and tie your horse could get their head under the rope, or a hoof over the rope, either of which could cause them to pull back or spook.

Always remember, safety first!

The more you know, the safer you are!

We are calling this “together we work wonders” Wednesday. It’s that time of year when we start asking you to reach out to businesses you know for sponsorships and donations for our yearly raffles and fundraisers. This year we have our May golf tournament, summer gala, and fall clay shoot, and some other fun things along the way.

If you, your business, or a business you know would like to sponsor us, we’d love to have yall!

Reoccurring sponsorships are through this link:
https://www.allstarfoundation.org/donate

Items for the silent auctions or questions regarding our events can be directed to the main office: 817-477-1437

And yes, we are looking for a few good horses (horses must be sane, sound, low maintenance, kind, and extremely tolerant of chaos)!

Can you help? Please share!
