That’s why objective testing (like retinoscopy) is so important.
It allows us to accurately measure vision without relying on a child to read letters or guess.

Most eye exams focus on how clearly you can see (20/20) and how healthy the actual eyeball is.

But at Optocize, we look at something deeper—how your visual system actually functions.

Because you can have perfect 20/20 vision… and still struggle to use your eyes comfortably and efficiently.

Instead, you might notice other subtle signs:
• Avoiding reading

• Using their finger to keep track
• Getting tired with reading
• Struggling despite trying hard

👉 20/20 vision does NOT mean everything is working correctly.

A child can pass a vision screening…

This is one of the most common questions we get—and the answer is retinoscopy.

In this video, you’re seeing the retinoscopy reflex—the light we shine into the eye that allows us to objectively measure how the eye is focusing.

✨ Works for babies, toddlers, non-verbal patients, and adults!

By observing how light moves across the retina, we can determine if a child is farsighted, nearsighted, or has astigmatism—and prescribe the exact lenses they need.
