Most people have an inner critic. It shows up to point out mistakes, replay moments, or tell you that you should have done better. Being less harsh with yourself and meeting that voice with compassion can change how much power it has over you.

This is the work we do at Whole Mind Therapy and Counseling. We help people rewrite the narrative, trust themselves more, and start betting on themselves again.

Being able to hold mixed emotions is a sign of emotional awareness, not confusion. Two things can be true at the same time. Learning to tolerate that complexity often leads to better decisions, more grounded reactions, and healthier relationships.

At Whole Mind Therapy and Counseling, we specialize in chronic pain therapy using a holistic, mind body approach. This work looks at how stress, emotions, and the nervous system interact with the body and influence pain over time.

The pain is real, and it is not imagined. By addressing both the mind and the body together, many people are able to reduce symptoms, regain control, and move toward living a more pain free life.

We're proud to be one of the few providers in Massachusetts and beyond that provides chronic pain therapy using a mind-body approach grounded in concepts from Dr. John Sarno, who was a leading specialist in psychogenic pain.

A big part of therapy is learning how to relate differently to your thoughts. When you stop treating every thought as truth, you create more room for choice, flexibility, and calmer responses. This is a skill that can be practiced and strengthened over time.

Chronic pain is real, and it is complex. At Whole Mind Therapy and Counseling, we are one of the few practices in Massachusetts and beyond that specialize in chronic pain therapy, including mind body approaches influenced by the work of Dr. John Sarno.

This does not mean the pain is imagined or “in your head.” It means stress, emotions, and the nervous system can play a powerful role in how pain shows up and persists. When you understand that connection, new options for relief become possible.

A big part of the work in therapy is noticing and challenging the core beliefs that are not serving you well. These beliefs shape how you see yourself, how you talk to yourself, and how you show up in your life.

When you start to question them, you create a different mindset and a new narrative.

A lot of people are carrying more than they realize right now, and it can be hard to slow down and make sense of what you are feeling.

Therapy is not always about fixing or optimizing. Sometimes it is about having space to talk things through, process what is going on, and not hold it all alone.

We're here for whatever you're going through.

Imagine waking up without dread or stress, feeling self-assured that you can handle what the day brings.

That is what a lot of people mean when they say they want to feel calm and confident.

Therapy helps you get there by working through what is driving the stress, changing the patterns that keep you stuck, and building real tools you can use in your day to day life.

We help people do this everyday. And you can have this too.

After an overwhelming or traumatic event, this is a common thought.

An acute stress reaction is often a normal nervous system response to an experience that felt like “too much” all at once.

It can show up as anxiety, hypervigilance, racing thoughts, sleep disruption, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

We cover this and my in our new blog breaking down what an acute stress reaction is, why it happens, and what helps.

Different generations. Different language. Same core experience: Overload. Pressure. Disconnection.

Gen Z: overstimulated, overthinking, trying to “figure it all out” at 23.

Millennials: balancing work + relationships + self care… while quietly running on empty.

Gen X: mastered independence… and forgot to ask for help.

If any of this felt personal, you’re not alone!!!

At Whole Mind Therapy and Counseling, we blend deeper therapy work with real-life tools so change actually happens outside the session ➡️ more calm, more clarity, more connection.

A lot of adults with ADHD feel frustrated because they are not struggling with effort, they are struggling with regulation.

When there is pressure, your brain locks in. When there is not, it can feel almost impossible to get started even when you care.

At Whole Mind Therapy and Counseling, we help people with ADHD build structure that actually works in real life. Not just mindset, but tools and systems to reduce overwhelm, stay consistent, and create routines that support follow through.

If this feels familiar, you are not alone. This is something we can help with.
