🎉 Today we celebrate the retirement of one of our Chaplains, Mr. Art Toombs, a man whose life and calling have impacted far more people than he’ll ever know. 🎉

Before Art ever stepped into hospice chaplaincy, he was the starting shortstop for the University of Houston Houston Cougar Baseball , playing in the 1967 College World Series final, which is the only championship game UH has ever reached. It’s an accomplishment he’s rightly proud of, and a part of his story that speaks to his grit, discipline, heart, and the value of great teamwork.

In time, that same steady strength led him into ministry, where he spent 20 years caring for hospice patients and families. Nearly eight of those years were spent here at AlēvCare, where he joined us as one of our first three team members and helped shape the spirit and culture of our agency.

From the baseball diamond to the bedside, Art has always shown up with humility, character, and a deep commitment to serving others. His presence has brought comfort to countless families and has left a mark on all of us.

Art, thank you for the decades you’ve devoted to this calling, for the compassion you’ve poured into our community, and for finishing your career here with us. We are grateful for your story, your ministry, and the example you’ve set.

Wishing you rest, joy, and God’s peace in this next chapter. 💚

💚Congratulations to Stephanie! 💚

We’re so proud to celebrate Stephanie, one of our amazing RNs, for earning her recertification as a Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN)!

The CHPN credential represents the highest level of excellence in hospice nursing and demonstrates advanced knowledge, compassion, and dedication to patients and families at life’s most tender moments.

Stephanie embodies all of that and more. Her steady presence, clinical skill, and heart for others make a lasting difference every day. On top of all of that, she's a fantastic teammate!

A couple of weeks ago, at our quarterly team meeting, we celebrated something truly special: Being named a ⭐️ 2025 Hospice CAHPS Honors ELITE Award Winner ⭐️ and the only hospice in North Texas to receive this national recognition.

We surprised our team with custom shirts to mark the occasion, and the energy in the room said it all. This award belongs to every Nurse, Aide, Social Worker, Chaplain, Volunteer, and Support Team Member who shows up every day with heart.

We’re honored to share a meaningful leadership update that reflects our continued commitment to compassionate, high-quality, and unparalleled care.

Diann Grigsby, RN, BSN, has been promoted to Director of Operations at AlēvCare Hospice!

With over 25 years of nursing experience, including leadership roles in Hospice, Home Health, Compliance, Informatics, and Hospital Quality Improvement, Diann brings a deep well of expertise, insight, and heart to everything she does. Over the past two years as our Director of QAPI and Compliance, she’s earned the trust and respect of our team through her steady leadership, clinical insight, and unwavering commitment to doing what’s right.

In this newly created role, Diann will provide operational oversight across departments, supporting our Directors and helping ensure consistency, clarity, and connection as we grow. Her leadership is grounded in wisdom, humility, and a heart for service that reflects the very spirit of our mission. "Her presence is steady, her decisions are thoughtful, and her faith is woven into everything she does."

We’re grateful for Diann’s calling to serve, not just as a nurse and leader, but as someone who sees this work as a way to love others well.
