Today, we’re celebrating four truly special women on our team, our Social Workers and Child Life Specialist.

Tonya, Mary, Rhonda, and Kelly each bring a kind of care that goes far beyond what can be measured. They step into some of life’s most challenging and tender moments and meet patients and families with compassion, presence, and unwavering support.

They are listeners, advocates, guides, and steady hands in uncertain times. They help families navigate difficult decisions, process emotions, find peace, and feel seen and cared for in ways that truly matter. What they do isn’t easy, but they do it with grace, humility, and heart every single day.

We are so grateful for each of you, for the difference you make, for the lives you touch, and for the way you represent what hospice care is meant to be.

Kristin brings a deep commitment to compassionate care, strong clinical leadership, and a genuine heart for the patients, families, and team members we serve each day. Since joining our team, she has already demonstrated the kind of thoughtful leadership and steady presence that helps our entire organization grow stronger.

We are excited to introduce Coffee & Conversations at Nolan River Coffee , a new, casual grief support offering designed to create space for connection, conversation, and community.

This gathering is open to anyone navigating grief, whether the loss is recent or something they have been carrying for some time. There is no pressure to share and no expectations to participate in any particular way.

Coffee & Conversations is simply a space to show up as you are and be reminded that you are not alone.

Advocacy is part of our calling. We’re proud that our CEO, David Dowd, joined fellow hospice leaders and represented both Alēvcare Hospice and the Texas and New Mexico Hospice Organization Board at today’s Regulatory Reform meeting in Austin with Texas Health and Human Services Commission. We’re grateful to support thoughtful progress and dialogue that can positively impact hospice care in Texas in the years ahead.

TNMHPO staff and board members proudly represented the hospice community today at the regulatory reform initiative hosted by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. We’re committed to ensuring hospice voices are heard as policies and regulations are shaped.

🎉 Today we celebrate the retirement of one of our Chaplains, Mr. Art Toombs, a man whose life and calling have impacted far more people than he’ll ever know. 🎉

Before Art ever stepped into hospice chaplaincy, he was the starting shortstop for the University of Houston Houston Cougar Baseball , playing in the 1967 College World Series final, which is the only championship game UH has ever reached. It’s an accomplishment he’s rightly proud of, and a part of his story that speaks to his grit, discipline, heart, and the value of great teamwork.

In time, that same steady strength led him into ministry, where he spent 20 years caring for hospice patients and families. Nearly eight of those years were spent here at AlēvCare, where he joined us as one of our first three team members and helped shape the spirit and culture of our agency.

From the baseball diamond to the bedside, Art has always shown up with humility, character, and a deep commitment to serving others. His presence has brought comfort to countless families and has left a mark on all of us.

Art, thank you for the decades you’ve devoted to this calling, for the compassion you’ve poured into our community, and for finishing your career here with us. We are grateful for your story, your ministry, and the example you’ve set.

Wishing you rest, joy, and God’s peace in this next chapter. 💚
