We are dropping some great gifts onto all the chairs at the Michigan Library Association’s Spring Youth Services Conference tomorrow! Young library patrons across the state will love Tia, Lily, Cleo, and all the friends in the Labyrinth Adventures storybook kits for libraries.

Labyrinth Adventures Storybook kits bring structured SEL into your day with posters, cards & games — no additional prep.
❄Snow days call for warm drinks, cozy blankets, and meaningful stories.
If you're building your child’s winter reading stack, we invite you to explore this beautiful reflection from our founder, Annamarie Fernyak, on writing children’s books that support calm, connection, and self-awareness.
In her piece for , Annamarie shares the heart behind the Labyrinth Adventures series—a place where young readers learn to pause, notice, and navigate big feelings with gentle guidance from characters like Tia the butterfly, Tree, and their friends.
Books can do more than entertain—they can offer real tools for focus, resilience, and emotional growth.
A little luck and a lot of steady focus. With careful hands and calm attention, this little builder (the REAL Lily) is putting her ideas into action—one creative step at a time.
A sweet reminder that when we focus our minds, believe in our plan, and stay thoughtful, we’re already striking gold!

A 15–20 minute Storytime can strengthen empathy, self-control, and respectful interactions — built into your daily rhythm, not outside it.
In *Oliver’s Waiting Game*, Oliver wants to catch a fish — but the waiting feels uncomfortable. That’s the moment so many K–1 students live in every day: the space between wanting something and being ready to do it.
What students learn: Pausing is a powerful first step — not a delay. It gives the body time to settle so the brain can come back online.
When they use it: When waiting feels hard. When frustration rises. When they’re excited and want to rush.
Why it matters: Self-regulation supports readiness.

Story-based SEL supports communication, respectful behavior, and peer skills — all while keeping kids connected and engaged.
Labyrinth Adventures Kits Available at Oshkosh Public Library!
We’re excited to share that ALL Labyrinth Adventure books are now available as kits at the Oshkosh Public Library in Wisconsin—making it easy for families to check out stories and activities that support social-emotional learning at home.
Libraries are incredible community hubs where children grow not only as readers, but as people. Through stories, reflection, and shared experiences, kids build the skills that help them thrive.
With these SEL kits, children practice:
Focusing their attention
Pausing and self-regulating
Taking turns and sharing space
By pairing stories with simple activities, libraries create meaningful opportunities for families to explore social-emotional learning together.
We’d love to see more libraries offer SEL book kits like this!
When libraries make tools like these available, they help extend learning beyond the classroom and into the community.
Thank you to Oshkosh Public Library for leading the way in supporting the whole child.

All week long, we’re celebrating SEL Week and today we are sharing how our team uses social-emotional skills every single day at work. Not just in theory. Not just in classrooms. But in meetings, in planning, in problem-solving, in communication, and in the way we support one another.
Because SEL isn’t an “extra.”
It’s how adults collaborate.
It’s how healthy workplaces function.
It’s how strong communities grow.
As you scroll through this carousel, we’d love for you to think about your own work:
- Which SEL skill do you use most often?
• Which one challenges you?
• Which one are you intentionally strengthening this year?

And if you’re excited for SEL Week, tap like so we know you’re celebrating too.
Let’s make these skills visible — for our students and for ourselves.

Mind Body Align is your hub for mindfulness education. We transform lives through mindfulness. Mind Body Align’s training meets you wherever you are: in our beautiful facility, online at your convenience, or in your school or place of business. There is a mindfulness program that is perfect for every child and every adult.
Mindfulness teaches attention control, self-awareness, and emotion regulation. For many people, including children, mindfulness is the missing piece to social-emotional learning and is now a part of most required school curriculums. By targeting three key skills, attentional control, self-awareness, and emotion regulation, MBA’s MBAwareness Educational Program builds student self-regulation to a greater extent than social emotional programs alone. Self-regulation allows students to think clearly enough to choose a strategy they learned in their social and emotional learning curriculum. SEL teaches those skills, but students don't know how to pause in order to access them. We help them learn, and practice, allowing it to be a habit and a part of their regular behaviors.
MBA also serves professionals. People all over the world engage with MBA to learn from the wise individuals who share their mindful, wise thoughts on our blog, and join our workshops and programs.
It all comes back to mindfulness. Fitness, relationships, job advancement, job satisfaction, anxiety, focus, reducing or eliminating PTSD, dealing with trauma – all are improved with sustained mindfulness practice. Ask us about the many studies which show students learn more and test scores improved after mindfulness education; similarly, adults are more productive and satisfied in their work and home life.
